Cody's POV

~

"Cody."

I ignore him.

"Psst, Cody."

My grip tightens on my book but I continue to ignore him.

"Talk to me nerd," A pause, "I'm so bored."

Finally, I snap. "You interrupt me one more time, and I promise you, this book will be thrown at your head."

Mason's grey eyes sparkle as he smiles at me. "You spoke!"

"Shh!" He is immediately hushed by the librarian who happens to be walking past but Mason only rolls his eyes.

He pulls his chair around the table even further so that it's positioned even closer to mine. I'm pretty sure he couldn't get any closer if he tried. I try to hold back my smile, but it's hard when he is acting so cute. It's lunch at the moment and Gia is home sick today, so I have opted to spend time at the library. But, like every other day for the past two weeks, I'm not alone. Mason has barely left my side since we first met a couple weeks ago and I can't say that I hate it.

I love it actually.

"Nerd, you know I don't like reading, so why did you drag me to the library?" He asks, his voice quietened to a whisper.

"Because I like reading and you chose to follow me. You can leave any time you want." I reply, trying to continue reading my book.

Mason scoffs, "That's the stupidest suggestion ever. I thought you would have figured out that I'm not going anywhere by now."

I can't hold back my smile now as I look up at him. I sigh, realising I'm not going to get any reading done. "Okay, you have my attention. What do you want?"

He hums, seeming to think about it for a moment. I admire the sharp line of his jaw as he turns his head before he suddenly snaps his head back to face me. He's grinning. "We should go to the movies this weekend."

My eyes widen slightly, "Oh uh, yeah. I can ask Gia if she's-"

"Actually," Mason murmurs, leaning in a little closer, "I was thinking it could be just you and me. We've done heaps of stuff with the three of us, but I want to spend some time with just you."

"Just me? And you?" I whisper.

He smiles, nodding slightly, "Just me and you. Do you want to?"

I hastily nod, "Yes. Uh- I mean, sure."

Mason chuckles, throwing his arm over the back of my chair and leaning closer. "Good. I'll pick you up at six?"

"Oh, it's okay. We can just meet at the movies. You don't have to do that." I argue, feeling the blush rise on my cheeks.

He stares at me for a moment longer before his thumb gently starts rubbing against the bare skin on my upper arm uncovered by my t-shirt. A shiver rolls down my spine before he speaks. "I'll pick you up."

I don't argue any further.

~

"Nope, nope... nope! Ugh." I groan in frustration, throwing down the pile of clothes back in the washing basket filled with freshly-dried clothes that have come out of the dryer. I storm out of the laundry room for the third time that evening, walking past the living room to head upstairs once again.
