Sophie's POV

~

For the first time since Trey and I started dating a couple weeks ago, our schedules finally match up. On Friday I finish at 2 o'clock and Trey's school gets out at 2:15, so I decide to pay him a visit.

After our first date, Trey and I have been seeing each other whenever we get the chance. That's usually on weekends because he and I both work during the week. He also coaches the fifth grade boys soccer team, so he's busy with that two afternoons of the week.

But that hasn't changed anything. After that first night together I think we were both pretty hooked on one another. He's an amazing guy and I really, really like him. He's visited me at work a couple times when I've had to work late and each time he brings me a little gift just because he can. The first time he brought me a late lunch which was extremely thoughtful and the second time was later in the day, so he brought me coffee and took Red along with him for a visit. Talking to him makes my day so much better.

So today I decided I'd return the favour and bring him some coffee and a muffin for his afternoon tea. I know he stays a while after work most days to sort out what he needs for the next day, so I figured a little booster would do him good.

I park outside the school and step out with the coffee and muffin in hand. School seems to have just got out as the car park is full and so is the drop off zone. Luckily I managed to snag a spot in time. A wide smile stretches across my face when I spot my older brother in the parking lot, waiting for his kids.

Deciding to sneak up on him, I walk over and stop just behind him. "Boo."

Reece jumps at my voice in his ear, quickly spinning around. He sighs with relief when he sees me. "That was not cool, Soph." Then he seems to register that I'm there and he furrows his brows. "What are you doing here, kid? Aren't you working?"

I smile sheepishly, my eyes darting towards the school. "I just finished for the day. I'm visiting someone who works here."

His eyes narrow on me. "Uh huh. Who is this someone? And who are they to you?"

A blush creeps up on my cheeks. "He may or may not be Ember's teacher and he may or may not be my boyfriend. But I didn't even know that until the first date!"

Reece chuckles, shaking his head at me. "Mr Burkley? Nice guy. How the hell did that happen though?"

I sigh softly. "His dog got hit by a car."

His eyes widen. "Holy fúck."

"Yeah. So I treated him and Trey and I kind of hit it off. Really hit it off actually."

"So how long have you been seeing him? This is the first I'm hearing about it."

"It's still really new. We've only been dating a couple weeks. Only Macy really knows about it. I was going to bring him to dinner next Sunday."

Reece raises his brows. "Sounds pretty serious then."

I nod, a little smile coming onto my face. "It is. Neither of us are looking to date just for the sake of it. We both made our intentions very clear and we're in it for the long run."

"Aunt Sophie!" I look over at the little voice and spot the first of my brother's three children. Ember runs into my legs, giving me a hug. She's ten now and watching her grow up has been incredible. I'm so proud of all my nieces and nephews.

"Hey, Ember. How are you, hun?" I ask, squeezing her in a tight hug.

"I'm good! What are you doing here?" She asks happily, pulling away to look up at me with a smile.
