"i'm scared.. what if she gets really mad?" ricky asked lewis and carlos as he paced back in forth in his room. lewis rolled his eyes and then shrugged his shoulders.

"then she gets mad at you," lewis simply said as he sipped his slurpee. ricky shot a glare at lewis and rolled his eyes.

"gee, thanks! i guess," ricky annoyingly said as lewis gave him a snarky smile.

"well you asked us a question so i provided you with an answer," lewis told the curly headed boy.

"yeah well you didn't have to be such a dick-"

"okay!" carlos yelled with an annoyed look on his face. carlos sighed at the two boys and stood up from the couch in ricky's room.

"still don't know how the two of you are friends but let's focus on the important thing here," caols told them. ricky and lewis exchanged looks before they fell silent and listened to the boy, "we're asking gina to do a really big thing here, so we can't get mad or upset with her if she declines the plan, alright?"

"yup."

"got it."

soon enough, they heard a knock on ricky's door. the boy felt his heart sink to his chest as he watched carlos open the door for gina. the sad girl slowly walked into the room. ricky made his way off the couch and gave gina a quick hug, "hey gina, how you holding up?"

"things are getting better," the girl simply said before sitting down on the edge of ricky's bed, "hey lewis."

"sup," lewis greeted the girl. there was an awkward tension in the room before carlos cleared his throat and nudged ricky. the boy held his side in pain before giving gina an awkward smile.

"so ... gina ... we gotta ask you something..." ricky started to say. he looked at gina's curious face and let out a deep breath, "this is totally up to you! and if you don't wanna do it then it's completely fine! okay?"

"okay...?" gina agreed, even more confused now.

ricky sat next to gina and spoke to her in a soft voice, "we were wondering...if you would try to set up your parents together again? just talk ... maybe clear things out so things wouldn't be so bad anymore."

ricky, carlos, and lewis prepared themselves for screaming and shouting. for things to be thrown across the room and for gina to storm out. but the girl simply sat there in her thought before muttering a quick, "okay."

"you'll do it?" ricky asked a bit surprised. the girl nodded her head and gave ricky and carlos a soft smile, "thank you! but ... why?"

"i wouldn't want another kid or person to go through what we all had to endure," gina told them. she felt tears start to form in her eyes and shrugged her shoulders, "it just gets ... so tiring. at this point, it's too much. i just want it to be over...and if my parents aren't mature enough to fix it then we all should."

ricky smiled at the girl and threw his arm around her as he pulled her into a hug, "you are the strongest person i know," ricky told his best friend as he kissed her on the side of the head, "i love you, g."

"i love you tooooo," gina cooed before getting out of ricky's arms with a laugh. lewis looked at gina and felt a warm smile forming on his lips. they made eye contact before lewis quickly looked away and cleared his throat.

"that's really cool of you, gina," lewis told the girl with an awkward smile. gina shot him an awkward smile back and thanked him. carlos pulled gina into a hug and sighed with relief.

"thank god, we thought you were gonna chop ricky's head off," carlos told gina. the girl chuckled and shook her head.

"nope! the poor boy has been through too much already. we all have because of my stupid ass parents," gina complained. the girl sat back down and looked down at her lap, "i'm really sorry ... you guys had to go through all this because of me."
