"YOU CAN'T BE SERIOUS BENJAMIN!" nini heard her moms yell through the phone. the girl peeked behind the doorframe. her moms were leaning against the counter with their phone in their hand. benjamin was on the speaker phone going on about something terrible. the dinner didn't go well, nini assumed. why else would he be yelling all over the phone?

"nini has spent so much time into this damn movie, you can not take her out of it," carol spat over the phone. nini raised an eyebrow.

take me out of the movie?

"nini has millions of other offers that are way better for her anyways," benjamin argued over the phone, "you really want her to work on two movies with that damn montague, anways? the one who helped your daughter run away. the one who brainwashed your daughter into thinking that living in Chicago with her so-called father was better than being in new york with you?"

carol and dana glanced at each other. benjamin continued to argue over the phone, "the only thing this movie has done is ruin nini's career. she's better off without it and that boy. trust me. we don't want those montages in our lives anymore."

"that movie does give nini a reason to see that stupid boy," carol persuaded dana. dana nodded her head in understanding, "nini will be fine. she got an offer to do a netflix series a few days ago. maybe she should do that instead. plus, i do not like montague records at all, especially that ricky bowen kid. he has got our nini all twisted in the head now. i agree with benjamin. we need to take her out the movie asap."

before nini could listen any further, she quietly turned around and made her way to the other side of her house. the girl quickly pulled on her shoes and ran out the backdoor before her moms could figure out she had left. nini felt the tears start to build up in her eyes as she ran down the street. her footsteps stomping on the pavement echoed throughout her ears as she ran as fast she could.

finally, she reached a payphone. the girl inserted a quarter and quickly called ricky.

"uh ... hello?" ricky answered the phone. a bit confused on who was calling on him. nini tried her best to catch her breath.

"ricky?" nini finally creaked out. her sadness echoing throughout ricky's ears. the boy sat up in his bed as a wave of relief hit his body.

"nini! thank god," ricky stated, "i've been trying to figure out a way to get to you. it's been hard since your phone was taken away. but i gotta tell you something— wait... how are you calling me right now?" nini... where are you?"

"i ... i need to you to pick me up, ricky," the girl cried, "i'm on 65th street. on the payphone."

"NEENS! are you crazy?" ricky asked. the girl heard shuffling in the background. he was probably rushing to get up right now and pick her up, "it's 3 in the morning! you should not be out in the city by yourself!"

"i know .. but i just had to get to you," the girl confessed. she heard ricky sigh. she heard his engine start through the phone.

"i'm coming right now? okay?" ricky quickly said throughout the phone, "if the time runs out and you have another quarter then please call me back again. if you don't then please stay right where you are! i'm gonna try and get there as fast as i can."

"okay, i promise," nini promised ricky over the phone. before the boy could say anything, the call ended. nini quickly looked through the glass of the payphone booth. no one was around, thank god. she dug through her pockets, looking for a quarter. nothing. nini let out a frustrated sigh. she held onto the the payphone booth door so that no one could come in. the girl's leg bounced as she anxiously waited for ricky to come. she kept looking around to make sure no one was gonna they and hurt her.

soon enough, ricky was in front of her. the girl let out a sigh of relief and quickly opened the door. ricky immediately pulled her into a hug as she melted into his arms. the boy felt a drop of water land on his head, and then another one. they looked up to see rain clouds start to form in the sky.

"it's gonna rain soon," nini told ricky.

"come here," ricky said before pulling nini's face to his. he smashed his lips on hers, reliving their very first kiss they shared at the hidden gala. they felt the raindrops hit their face as their lips moved in sync. ricky used his finger to lift nini's head again, pulling her in for more. when they finally let go, they smiled at each other. "you, nini salazar-roberts, will be the death of me."

nini chuckled and kissed ricky on the lips again, "till death do us part."
