We won't question why I didn't post a new chapter. I swear it's not because I found a really good kurapika x reader and obsessed over it for like a week. I was definitely just...uhhh studying the fanfiction so I could make my own better. Definitely... (in case you haven't read it, it's called Some Wings Must Bleed)
Also I'm going to start putting pictures of Kurapika for your enjoyment and ogling.Y/n's POV
"Yes, I am doing this just for the money," Leorio huffs out.
Welp. I guess we're having this conversation now, and when they inevitably ask me, I'll have the most anticlimactic response. Maybe I should just try and run faster so as to not get caught up in what's about to happen. Well, that's no fun. I could just wait this out.
It didn't seem in Leorio's character to be cryptic or have goals with more depth than visible on a surface level, but then again, a book shouldn't be judged by its cover. It can only be judged by the words bound by the cover.
"You're wrong Leorio. The Kurta Clan were always targeted for their scarlet eyes. See, when the Kurta feel intense emotions their eyes become scarlet. The color is considered one of the seven most beautiful colors in the world. If the Kurta eyes were scarlet at the time of death, then they would remain that way. This was highly valued in the black market. After the massacre, the eyes were stolen from the corpses of my people by the Phantom Troupe. Now, I have sworn vengeance against the Phantom Troupe for what they have done, and I will retrieve the eyes of my fallen kinsmen,"
Leorio stays silent for a while until finally looking at Kurapika and saying, "Their eyes, they would've been sold on the black market long ago. They probably belong to wealthy and powerful clients. Normal people wouldn't even be allowed within a mile radius of them,"
"A Hunter under a contract to one of those said rich and powerful clients could easily gain access. I'm going to work close to someone that has strong ties in the black market. My goal is simple enough,"
"Then you would have to become the type of Hunter you dislike. Would your pride be able to handle that?"
"My pride does not compare to the suffering of my brethren when they were murdered,"
This situation is becoming more tense by the second. I know that Kurapika lost his family and he wanted to avenge them, but I think this a bit more than just wanting to avenge his clan. I think Kurapika has been letting his rage lead his life. He's held onto his anger his entire life. Someone blinded by rage, if they stay that way, never truly receives the necessary closure. If he's living his life with only one intent, then what happens when the intent is fulfilled? He won't know what to do with his life after he completes his mission. He's targetting the Phantom Troupe, so... he might not fulfill his intent. Or his intent could change into something more damaging than his current one. I may not have known him for long, but somehow he's already managed to interest me. He reminds me of my mother. She blamed me her entire life. She let her sadness and anger consume her. At some point I had to realize that no matter how much I wanted to care for my mother, that woman wasn't my mother. She rejected the title at the cost of her own sanity. If Kurapika is the other side of this coin, then he won't just stop when the Phantom Troupe is gone. He won't stop once he has fulfilled his goal. After destroying the Phantom Trouoe, he'll eventually destroy himself. I don't know what type of affect his death would have on me. I know what loss feels like, but its terrifying regardless. If I become close to Kurapika then I know that the feeling would amplify. He plans to live a dangerous life, so it would be wise for me to seperate my emotions from this matter. I could join him on his mission after Izunavi trains me. I could look out for him although I dont think Kurapika would need me to protect him. As much as I want it to be an attempt at saving him from himself, it would be more of me determining whether there is a tone left to save.
