Chloe glanced at her watch nervously, her heart sinking in her chest when she realised that time was passing much quicker than she would have liked it too. She began to pace the living room, her gaze flickering to the laptop that was resting open on the coffee table, ready for the trial to start. Her eyes brimmed with tears at the thought of having to relive everything that she had been through as a result of what Shayne had done to her. She'd been dreading this day for weeks and now that it had finally arrived she couldn't help but feel nauseous.
"Lee?" she called, suddenly realising that Lee was still in the cabin with Freyja. Even though she knew in her heart that Freyja wouldn't have any idea what was going on, she couldn't help but feel a slight pang of fear at the idea of her baby girl being anywhere the trail.
"We're in here!" he called back. Chloe nodded slowly, quickly heading in the direction of the bathroom when she suddenly remembered that he'd told her that he was going to take Freyja for her bath. She walked into the bathroom in a daze, gasping in shock when she suddenly noticed that Lee was laying down in the bath, carefully holding Freyja against his chest. Her cheeks coloured as she locked eyes with him, quickly forcing herself to maintain eye contact.
"Sorry, I had no idea that you were taking a bath with her!" she gasped, her cheeks colouring even further as he raised his eyebrow at her.
"I didn't, you said that you were taking Freyja for her bath." she countered, a small smile playing on the corner of her lips.
"I know, but I decided to get in with her." he beamed.
"I can't believe how much she loves the water." he added, smiling at his daughter as she kicked her legs under the water, her face lighting up with happiness. Chloe nodded in agreement, quickly turning her back on Lee when he fidgeted in the bath.
"You don't have to turn your back Chloe." he chuckled.
"Yes I do." she said quickly, smiling to herself when she heard him burst out laughing.
"So, do you need me for something or did you just come in here to check me out?" he asked, wiggling his eyebrows at her back.
"I didn't come to check you out, I thought you were giving her a bath, I didn't expect you to be naked!" she protested, biting her lip to try and fight the laughter.
"Can you pass me a towel then, so that I can get out?" he asked. Chloe nodded slowly, quickly picking up a towel and handing it to him, taking care to avert her eyes.
"Do you want to take Freyja?" he asked. Chloe nodded slowly, keeping her gaze fixed on her baby as she carefully removed her from Lee's arms. Lee smiled at Chloe as she quickly picked up a towel, gently wrapping Freyja up.
"I actually came to ask you a favour?" she said tentatively, quickly turning her back on him so that he could climb out of the bath.
"What is it?" he asked nervously, quickly drying himself off and pulling on his clothes.
"I was wondering if you would mind taking Freyja out into town or for a walk or something?" she asked nervously.
"What for?" he frowned.
"You can turn around now." he quickly added, when he was fully clothed.
"Well obviously it's Shayne's trial today and I have to do the video link to give evidence and I would feel better if Freyja wasn't around." she said quietly, her eyes filling with tears at the thought of being away from her baby girl, but she knew in her heart that she couldn't bear to expose Freyja to the trial and the intense emotions that Chloe knew she was going to be feeling.
