His saving grace

Noah's POV

"Hey bud. Time to get up for school" I sigh and get out of bed.

"How are you feeling" dad asks

"Fine I guess. I'm sorry you're stuck with me" I tell him sincerely

"Noah. I'm not stuck with you. I chose to be here for you and with you. You know I support you. And yes finding out the way I did wasn't how it should have but I wish I just could have been there for you sooner" he tells me and I nod. Dad would never abandon one of his kids for any reason.

"Try to cheer up bud. It's a new start." He tried to lighten the mood which I appreciate. I appreciate him trying to be there for me after we haven't lived together since I was four.

"Hey dad" he turned around and I gave him the best smile I could

"Thanks"

"Of course Noah. I'll always be here for you. And so will Rebecca" I nod and he closes my door behind him. And the thing is I know it's true. My dad and step family have been there for me when they could.

I sigh and throw on a black shirt and black ripped jeans with a pair of sneakers.

After I style my hair and brush my teeth I go down stairs with my backpack slung on my shoulder. 

"Morning sweetie" Rebecca greets me once I walk downstairs and into the kitchen.

"Morning"

"Onyx can you help me set the table and Noah can you help me plate while your father gets the drinks." I nod and everyone gets to their tasks.

"What can I do mama" sapphire asked Rebecca

"You can be on washing duty today" sapphire just groaned and sat down with a pout.

"You doing any sports this year" Onyx asked me

"I don't know" I shrug.

"I know you used to talk about trying out for track once you got to high school. Especially since you ran for track in middle school" my dad pointed out the discussion we had years ago. The truth was I ran track in my freshman year but didn't last year.

"I mean I guess I could but I haven't ran in at least a year. I'm not in the shape I was"

"It's fine. I've seen you run. With a little bit of time I think you can get back to where you were" i nod slowly considering it to myself.

"Alright I guess."

"I should grab my bag then." I say and help Rebecca finish plating breakfast.

"So that means you'll all be home around five ish" dad asks and we nod.

Onyx would be trying out for the boys swim team and Ruby would be doing cheer. She didn't need to try out considering she was captain last year and this year. She also did a cheer camp with the coach and her team during the summer.

"Track ends by four thirty so if you want you can come by the pool. We won't be done till five and Ruby won't be done til five either anyways." Onyx told me and I nodded.

I quickly ran back up to my room and grabbed my sports bag and packed some of my athletic wear and an extra water bottle.

Once I got back down stairs I saw Rebecca and Ruby doing the dishes.

"Breakfast was great Rebecca thank you" I say up slinging my school backpack on right shoulder.

"Course hun. Have a good day and please try to have fun" she smiled

I smiled back and nodded but niglected to point out that it's school so how much fun can I really have

"Come on Noah. You ready" I nod and walk out to the car with Onyx.

"Ruby let's go" Onyx yelled annoyed at his twin while she ran from the front door to the car we all share.

"Sorry almost forgot my Pom poms" she said jumping into the back seat

"Hey Noah." She asked

"Yeah" I answer

"We got your back. If anything happens we'll be there. So don't be afraid to talk to us for any reason and if you want you could come sit with us at lunch" Ruby offered and I nod a small smile gracing my face

"I might just take you up on that. Thank you Ruby" she nodded and ruffled my hair from her seat while she giggled and went on her phone while I scowled and put it back into place.

Today was going to be interesting that's for sure.
