His saving grace

Noah's POV

It's been three weeks since I went over to Pax's house for dinner and things have been going great. Even though track starts later in the year I've been running for cross country and it's hard though because sometimes my events overlap with Pax's competitions though I go as much as I can and he does the same for me.

Right now Pax was pissed that he lost his event during his last swim meet and was putting in extra hours at the pool.

"Pax it's been two hours since practice ended" I tell him and he sighs and swims over to the side of the pool

"Baby" he sighed I frowned and sat down at the side of the pool putting my legs into the water

"I just want some time to us ya know" I sighed sadly

"Noah I lost my last event. I-I want to be able to do this professionally" he sighed and I nod knowing this

"I know and I'm not saying anything against it I'm just worried about you over exerting yourself." He glared at me which he hadn't done since I first came to this school

"I'm not Noah. I lost and I have to be better to win next time. And I'll do anything to improve"

"Including taking the little time we have between both of our practices and meets and the time we spend with our families" he hesitated to responds

"Yes... no... I don't know Noah" I glare at him and he winced

"Wow. I'm outta here" I said and went to the locker room and grabbed my stuff and walked out of the school and started walking home.

As soon as I walked in the door I got a call from Pax and I just let it ring

"Hey Noah can we talk" Sapphire asked while walking into my room and I nodded. No matter how emotional I am I would never take it out on her

"What's up"

"How do you know when you like someone" she asked innocently

"Sis you're way to young to date" I said

"I know" she said blushing slightly and I smiled

"Well it's really hard to explain"

"Well how did you know you liked Pax" she asked

"Well I thought he was cute and I just knew I liked him and it worked out. But boys suck" I told her and she smiled widely

"But most of the time crushes are just crushes and a lot of the time your crush doesn't like you back" her smile dropped and tears came to her eyes

Damn it I didn't mean to make her upset

She ran out of my room crying

Im just fucking up everything recently.

I sighed and flopped onto my bed going to bed without dinner tonight.

The next morning and by morning I mean three in th morning I woke up to my phone ringing and feeling like crap. I also made a few mistakes

I answer without looking on who was calling and that was my first mistake

"Noah" I hear my moms voice on the other end and my sleep filled eyes widen.

"Mom I'm going to hang up" I tell her

"I understand if you do please just hear me out" she said pleadingly

I didn't hang up which turned out to be mistake two.

"I never meant to hurt you Noah." She said and I rolled my eyes even though she couldn't see them

"You threw me out. I'm lucky I had my phone on me or I would have had to walk to dad's. Or I would have been homeless" I vent

"I know I know. I just I miss you so much" she said while her voice broke and I sighed

"I want to see you my baby boy" she said and I grimace

"But I don't" I said matter of factly and she sighed

"Please just think about it" was all she said and hung up.

'Why can't I catch a break' I thought and I flopped on my bed but it was short lived because there was a tapping at my window which scared the hell out of me I think my heart froze for a brief minute

"Pax" I ask and he nods. I open my window and let him in

"Noah I'm so sorry I was an idiot. Of course I wouldn't intentionally not spend time with you to make my swimming better. You're more important." He said hugging me and I burst into tears sobbing into his chest

"Shhh. Shhh. Noah what happened" he asked and I took a moment to be able to breathe and compose myself a bit

"I don't know. After I got mad and walked home Sapphire asked me how do you know if you like someone and I told her that it was hard to explain and then she asked how did I know if I liked you and I told her I just knew but I said that a lot of the time your crush doesn't like you back and it's true and she ran out of my room crying. I haven't had dinner I just went to bed and then my mom called and I was hoping it would be you and I was stupid and didn't check and she said she wanted to meet up because she misses me and I don't know what to do" I said sobbing not being able to stop myself from crying again

"Alright everything is fixable no need to be upset." Pax cooed at me and I clung to him

"You can talk to Sapphire in the morning and we can get you some food now. Then about your mom, do you want to see her" he asked and I shrugged.

"We'll figure things out ok" he said and I nodded

"You're too good for me" I say and he shakes his head

"No Noah you are too good for this world" he said and kissed me softly.
