Noah's POV (ps I really do try when editing ❤️)

"This is fucking your fault" Matt said as Nyx Paxton and I walked into the locker room.

He shoved Onyx out of the way and shoved me to the ground and kicked my side.

"Get the fuck out Hughes. You're done. You're out this year. I've seen you get into fights and antagonize other teams and everything. You're out." Paxton said angrily as he helped my heaving self up.

"That's not your decision to make" Matt yelled back

Paxton ignored him and walked me out of the locker room before sitting me down on one of the bleachers once we arrived.

"Breathe Noah." He said while rubbing my back and occasionally patting it trying to help oxygen get into my lungs and I would occasionally cough.

"Better" he asks once my breathing becomes a bit more regular then before.

I nod and wipe my face

"Hey. I know we weren't on the best terms before. But you're pretty alright." He gave me a half smile and walked away only to come back seconds later with my water bottle.

"Drink" he said softly and handed me my water.

"Where is Nyx" I asked

"He's getting the nurse." Paxton answered curtly. The cold and closed off Paxton is back.

I sighed

"I'll talk to the track coach. If you want" Paxton offered. If I'm injured and am not cleared to run I could get into so much trouble and so could the coach.

I nod

"I called Nick" Onyx said as he walked in with the nurse

"Onyx I'm fine you didn't have to call my dad."I complain

"I know. I know. I'm just worried. Noah that was a hard kick" He said with guilt in his eyes

"Heya" Ruby said but instantly dropped her cheery mood when she saw the nurse examining my side.

"What happened" she demanded and Paxton stood and kept her arms at her sides

"Your ex." Was all he said

"I will fucking kill that asshole. No one touches my family and gets away with it." Paxton picked her up and left

"What is he doing where is he going" I ask Nyx

"He's going to throw her in the pool" he said and I looked at him shocked

Onyx chuckled "don't worry. That is the only way Pax can get her to calm down. She has extra clothes in her bag which is right here"  I sigh and nod

"Alright dear. It will be a bit bruised but ice it as much as possible and you should be good" I thank her and take the ice she had with her before she leaves.

"How's your side Noah" Ruby says as she walked back into the gym with a guilty look.

"It's fine. Doesn't hurt that bad." I said and she nodded and went to go get changed.

"Are you riding back with us pax" onyx asked and he nodded.

We all went to the car and piled in. I took the back seat with Ruby since Paxton took the front with onyx.

We walk in and with Paxton following behind

"Hi kids how was school" Rebecca asked as we put our stuff down.

"Fine" we all respond and she looks at Paxton

"And you Paxton" he gives a polite smile

"Fine"

"I'm glad" I start trying to head upstairs but Rebecca instantly notices me holding my side slightly

"Noah what happened to your side" she asks

"I uh I um" my brain just isn't formulating words at the moment

"Matt happened" Rebecca probably knows about the break up but won't let on that she knows everything that goes on around here.

"Oh honey. Sit" she demands and I do while Paxton moved into the kitchen to help Rebecca.

"Rebecca I'm fine. Really" she sent me a glare knowing full well I wasn't

"Shirt off now." She said and I complied and she gasped at the bruise that was on my side

"Nyx get me the long strip of ace bandage with the Velcro and a face cloth" she said and filled a ziplock bag with ice and wrapped the face cloth around it once Nyx got back. She then used the Velcro ace bandage to secure the ice around my side.

"Go lay down and rest. I'll call your coach and tell him you won't be able to go to the last day of tryouts." She said and I nodded sadly. Now I probably won't make the team considering I'm not going to be able to go to the very last day.

Ruby and Onyx both went to shower. Ruby like always took the hall and Onyx took our parents room.

Paxton then came over to me and knelt down in front of me

"Are you alright" he asked softly and I was shocked by this

"Y-yeah" I said nervous by our close proximity

"Good" he said and stood up. He then went to the fridge taking a cold Gatorade and began to drink it quickly.

Paxton ended up staying for dinner and I kept as much distance from him as I could.

"Hey mom can me Ruby and Noah go to Paxton's to hangout" I heard Nyx say

"Honey. It's almost nine o'clock"

"But mom"

"No and that's my final answer" Rebecca said putting her foot down.

"Fine" onyx acknowledged

Nyx then came into my room shortly after Rebecca and dad went to bed.

"Want to sneak out for a party"

"Don't bring him he'll rat us out" Paxton said walking into my room

"Will not" I deny

"Then come and we'll find out" he challenged.

I sigh

"I'm going in what I'm wearing." I was in my pajamas which consisted of sweatpants and because of my bruise a shirt. Usually I don't sleep with a shirt on but it's whatever.

"Fine" they say

"Let's go. Ruby is already dressed and in the car waiting." I nodded and grabbed my sneakers and we went downstairs quietly and out through a window.
