But it wasn't over.
I guess that all the Walkers are gone didn't include the outer city.
As we were making our way to City Hall, a Walker came out.
Daryl disposed of it quickly with his cross bow. Carl snickered as soon as it was dead.
"What?" I asked him.
"I don't even know why we're going. Apparently, they weren't being truthful because that was just a Walker. Who knows what else they're lying about?"
I grabbed his hand,"True, but there could be a chance that this could be over soon. We could go back to school and be normal."
He glanced away from me and mumbled,"It'll never be the same again, though. My parents are dead. They were my everything."
I kissed him,"Mine are gone, too. My everything was gone. We can find another, together."
He hugged me,"I already found my new everything."
When we separated, we sped up our walking to catch up with Glenn and Daryl. When we finally did, I started to think.
I don't deserve him. He forgives me and loves me. I don't deserve him, but he doesn't care. He's the reason why I'm alive. My safety is all he thinks about. I can't live without him. He never gives up on me and he's always comforts me when I'm feeling sad. Without him, I would have given up a long time ago. He could have anyone he wanted, but he chose me. I don't deserve him.
I looked at him and tears welled up in my eyes.
He looked down at me,"What's wrong?"
I pulled him into another hug,"I just realized that you are my savior. I love you."
He squeezed me back,"I love you, too."We walked a while more, until we made it to the edge of the city.
We stopped and looked at the place that used to be so beautiful.
"This place used to be filled with Walkers,"Glenn said absentmindedly.
Cars were flipped over and some were on fire.
"Back up,"I screamed.
They all looked at me like I was crazy before it clicked. They backed away from the car as soon as it blew up. The impact launched us backwards. My back hit a tree and I crumpled to the ground.
"Jocelyn!"
My vision was blurry. The last thing I saw before I blacked out was a distorted image of Carl. When I woke, I was laying in a cot with my family around me.
"Where are we?" I asked.
Daryl responded,"City Hall."
I looked around and saw very few people. Most of them were young.
"Are these all of the survivors?" I asked, shocked.
Glenn shook his head,"No, but there aren't that many."
I sat up slowly and Carl helped me out of the bed.
He took my hand and we walked out of the room.
"Carl?"
We turned around and saw a boy with long black hair. He looked about our age.
"Kevin, is that you?"
"Yup."
The two boys did that boy hug thing.
"Is that Jocelyn?"
Carl smiled,"Yeah. We met a while ago. We're dating now."
"Wow," Kevin said in shock,"You used to be obsessed with her. At least this damn apocalypse did something good."
I glanced at Carl who was waving his hand under his chin as if to tell Kevin to stop.
"You were obsessed with me?"
"Pssssh, no." Carl said, nonchalantly.
"Mmmhmmm,"Kevin said.
He held out his hand and said,"I didn't introduce myself. My name is Kevin. I was his best friend before the apocalypse."
"And still is,"Carl added as I took the boy's hand.
Suddenly, I caught a glimpse of someone in the far back of the room.
"Excuse me," I said as I walked over there.
Carl gave me a confused look, but I kept moving.
"Michael?" I said to the man.
He turned around and looked at me in shock.
"Jocelyn?"
My heart fluttered in disbelief as he walked the rest of the distance to stand in front of me.
I looked into the eyes of someone I thought I would never see again.
