"What?" Carl asked in shock as he looked at my arm.
I looked at it too. After all if this, this is what's going to take me down.
"We need to get back to the Hall. I want to say my last goodbyes before I..."
"No," Carl said with tears in his eyes,"They have a cure. We can save you."
I shook my head,"It would take too long to find the officials and get them to use the cure in me. They'd probably want to use it on the ones that are already Walkers."
I grabbed his hand,"We only have a little time. I want to say goodbye."
He sniffled and allowed me to pull him to City Hall.Daryl wiped the tears off of his face,"So you're not even going to try to get them to use the cure on you."
I sighed,"Its too late."
I had already been feeling my eyes twitching and my clear vision had been fading in and out.
Carl sat in the corner of the room with his head in his lap.
"Uh, can I have a minute alone with him?"
Daryl and Glenn wiped their tears and got up. They hugged me and turned to the door.
"It was really nice knowing you," Daryl said.
As soon as they left, I crossed the room to where Carl sat.
"It'll be alright."I told him as I rubbed his back. The glittering if an object caught my attention.
It was the ring that he had given me. We had promised to love each other to the end. Well, the end was coming.
I took my hand into the other and pulled off the ring.
"Here. I want you to be happy. Take he ring and find another to love. But remember, Carl Grimes, I will always love you. "
He lifted his head and looked at the ring.
I was holding it in my palm. He folded up my fingers and closed the ring in.
"Keep it. I want you remember how much I love you."
I pulled him into a hug and planted a kiss on his lips.
I moved over to my brother and planted a kiss on his forehead.
I grabbed Carl's hand and together, we walked to the border of the city.
"Shoot me." I said.
Carl's eyes teared up as he hesitantly reached for his gun.
"Carl," I whispered.
His head jerked up.
"Don't give up. You have to keep fighting. For all of them. Never give up."
He looked down.
"Promise me. Promise me that you won't give up. That you'll help Daryl and Glenn care for Judy and Jacob. Promise."
He huffed out,"I promise."
He aimed his gun.
I squeezed the ring in my hands and closed my eyes.
I heard a bang and then nothingness.I jumped up with a start. My heart was pounding and I was sweating.
Where was I?
I tried to reach up to rub he tiredness from my eyes, but my hands were bound to the table.
I was chained to a table?
What the heck is going on?
Suddenly a light came on. A man with a white lab coat came in.
He took a key from his keychain and placed it in the lock slot. He twisted and I was free.
He turned to me,"Come with me."
I looked around and decided that I would be better off going with him than resisting.
We left the room and continued to walk until we came to a room with a green door.
"What is this place?" I asked him as he stopped and motioned for me to go in.
He didn't answer. He just kept on waving his hand in the same motion. I finally sighed and entered the room.
What I saw shocked me.
Beth and Maggie were siting in a couch next to Rick and the woman from the photo, Lori.
Key, Allie, and Denise were sitting across the room.
Weren't they dead, my mind wondered.
Everyone turned to look at me. It was silent as everyone just looked in shock.
"Jocelyn," Maggie shrieked as she leaped off of her seat and pulled me into her arms. Beth followed.
"Ohmygosh. What the heck is going on here?" I asked as I squeezed them back.
"Should I explain?" Rick said with wide arms. I hugged him and nodded.
He launched into the whole story on how he had died. I knew most of it. Then he started talking about waking up again, but he was chained to a table.
"Yeah, me too." I said as I hugged Key, Allie, and Denise.
"Those guys in the white coats brought me here and the only one here was Lori. She explained to me how when she 'died', nobody was here. But when they heard that her husband was waking up, they wanted her here."
"What do you mean, waking up?" I asked.
Rick sighed,"We were all out into a system to see how the human race would survive in the zombie apocalypse. Like a video game. Something went wrong with the program and they couldn't get us out. The only way out is to die there. Everyone here had to die there to get here."
I thought about all the people that I had lost and started to stutter,"So all of that-"
Rick hugged me again,"It wasn't real."This story is coming to an end and I'm so sad. 😭😭😭 It had been so fun writing this. There should be a couple more chapters and then we all can say farewell to the story. But not really. If you enjoyed it, share it with other because I know that I like it when my friends share a good fanfic. Anyhow, no soundtrack, but the video above was my inspiration for the whole idea of this chapter. Thank you for being such great readers. ~ Miki
