A year and some months later.

I looked over to see Stevan pull out his phone.

We were walking out of the school building. It was mine, Key's and Stevan's last year in school. Just a few months more and we were done. No more teachers, no more books.

Even though I didn't know him while I attended school, every time I went into the building I thought of myself and the boy I never noticed.

I pulled out my phone as Stevan draped his arm over Key's shoulder. I rolled my eyes.

They weren't dating, but I could tell that they liked each other. At first, I thought that it was because Key thought that she would be violating the girl code if she dated my ex, but when I confronted her, I realized that it was because she was an idiot and just wouldn't come out and say it.

Stevan pushed a bag of chips in my hand as I turned my phone on.

By the time that it was on, my mouth was full of chips and I was chewing.

That all stopped when I read the text that was being shown on my home screen. I gasped at it and at the same time, choked on my chips. Key patted my back and look at the text that made me choke. She gasped and pulled her phone out of her pocket. She smiled at her phone and grabbed my hand. We ran and shouted out a see you later to Stevan.

I burst into the lab and walked to the green room. Lori, Rick, Maggie, Beth, Denise, and Aaliyah were all sitting in there. They all sat nervously at the edges of their seat.

"Are they coming?" I asked as I gave Lori a hug.

We had all become seriously close after I came out of the coma. They were once again, my second family. Even my mom had become close with each and every one of them. They were invited over to the house every week for dinner or lunch or any other reason to see them. And they always showed up.

I sat down and texted my mom where I was. She said that she was going to come over here right away.

Even though my mother had never met Carl, she had made it her duty to ask about everything there was to know about him. From me and his family. She had actually said that he seemed like a really flattering boy and I rolled my eyes.

About a half hour later, she walked into the room,"Did I miss him?"

I shook my head as she sat next to me.

"Who's getting out today?" she asked as she put her phone in her pocket.

I smiled,"All of them. Daryl, Glenn, Judy, and Jacob. Apparently, they were over ruled by a herd of Walkers and they all were either bitten or scratched."

We waited for about another half hour before I started to fall asleep.

I was shaken awake by Key,"Get up. The scientists just came in and said that they would be out in a second. They apologized for this taking so long. They needed to do some tests to make sure they weren't carrying any diseases from the apocalypse. He said that they were okay and that they could go home."

I nodded and rubbed the sleep out of my eyes.

"By the way," Lori said,"The school said that they aren't going to hold him back because he was taking honors before the apocalypse. He was ahead of everyone so they said he would be able to graduate with all of the requirements."

I smiled at the thought of spending the rest of my small time in high school with Carl and my friends. I had ditched all of my fake friends and I was ready to start over.

The door opened.

The scientists stepped in.

He motioned for whoever was behind him to come in. And that was when I saw him.

He paused in the doorway. My eyes started to cloud as tears formed. His eyes searched the room and finally landed on me.

I hopped out of my seat and ran to him. I launched my self at him and he caught me with open arms.

"Ohmygosh, I thought I would never see you again," he whispered into my ear.

When we separated, he pressed his lips to mine and I savored it because I hadn't seem him in over a year.

Lori rushed over to her son as we separated.

Glenn, Daryl, Judy, and Jacob came into the room. I rushed to the men and pulled them into hugs.

"Jocelyn!"they screamed in joy. The small children were crawling on the floor and my mom screamed in joy as she approached her son. He gurgled and looked at her strangely. He would learn soon that this was his mother.

Everyone greeted each other with hugs and tears. When Daryl moved to Beth, he ditched the hug and pressed his lips to hers. Everyone gasped.

When they separated, he said,"When you died, I realized all that I didn't do and I want to make up for it."

She pulled him into a hug and sobbed into his shoulder.

Everyone seemed to have someone that they had been hoping would come out more than others. Beth and Daryl were hugging and so was Glenn and Maggie. My mom was hugging Jacob and Lori and Rick were smothering Carl and cradling Judith. Carl pulled away from his parents and walked over to Key.

"What's up beauty?" he said as she pulled him into a hug.

I laughed.

When they were done catching up, Carl came over to me.

"I missed you,"I said.

He grabbed my hand,"I missed you too."

"You didn't give up," I said,"I had to wait for over a year because you wouldn't give up."

He lifted my hand that still had the ring on it,"I promised. Forever and Always."
