Madison's POV.

I opened my eyes slowly, after a few minutes of trying to ignore the hideous sound that woke me up, a "beep" that would stop and go rhythmically every now and then. It sounded like one of those hospital machines that when connected to someone "beeped" at the same time as their heart rate or something.

I probably fell asleep watching Grey's and the episode was still on, but I didn't actually recall getting to bed, or even finishing the movie with the boys.

As I kept trying to guess how I ended up in bed, my eyes finally adjusted to the bright light coming from the ceiling on top of me, and as I saw it, I realized that I was the one in the hospital, which made me start breathing heavy, making the monitor beep faster.

While trying to take deep breaths, I sat down slowly on the bed to look around and try to figure out, at least, in which hospital I was, but just as I turned my sight to my right, I saw him. In a white chair, leaning into the back of it, with his arms crossed on his chest, his eyes peacefully closed and his hair looking like a mess, as usual.

He was asleep, which probably meant that I had been here for a while now.

"Niall?" I whispered, looking at him, and as soon as his name left my lips, he snapped his eyes open.

"You are awake." He said as he got up from the chair, coming closer to the bed and rubbing his eyes with his hands. He looked so tired.

"I'm good, I think," I said. "But I don't remember anything, what happened? Is everyone okay?"

"Yes, we are all fine, no need to worry about us," He spoke, putting his hands in his pockets. "The milkshake you drank had drugs in it, we don't know what kind or even how many different ones were in it, but you just... You didn't react, you didn't move. Your body was there, but you weren't. You ended up passing out, so Harry and I brought you here as fast as we could."

"Wait, wait," I said, furrowing my brows and closing my eyes, trying to analyze what he just told me.

"Don't worry about it, Maddie, you're okay now." He said, not moving from where he had been standing since he got up from the chair, like he didn't want to come closer or how to act.

"No, wait, how did the drugs get in the milkshake?" I asked, staring at him.

"Maddie... I don't want to overwhelm you with that, you don't need to worry about it, everything is and will be taken care of-"

"Cut the crap, Niall, and just tell me." I said, cutting him off on his little speech, but he didn't answer. Instead, his eyes left mine to now look at the floor, avoiding me.

"I don't even want to think about it, Madison, let it go." He said, in a cold tone this time, like he was getting mad. And then it clicked.

Him not wanting to talk about the person in question and getting mad could only mean one thing.

"It was Jason." I said, and he looked back at me in a snap, swallowing the lump on his throat and nodding in silence.

"Well, look who is finally awake!" A doctor said while he walked into the room, making Niall step back to make room so the doctor could stand right in front of me.

"Well, Miss Jones," He said glancing at me, gluing his eyes to his chart and to the monitor a moment later. "Everything seems good here now, you just need to go home and rest a little. We put you on an IV line and gave you some medication that helped your body get rid of the substances, so you don't need to worry about that anymore."

"What substances could you identify, doctor?" Niall said in a calmer tone, staring at the doctor as he waited for an answer.

"The question should be, what substances didn't we find," The doctor said, taking his eyes from the monitor and looking at Niall. "But the amount of each one of them was just enough to not put her in real danger, so whoever did this knows a lot about substances and that kind of world."
