Once we reached the camp everyone was making plans and weapons before heading into the fortress to take down, I was sharpening my short sword and checking my whip for any snags or something like that. Sigurd was speaking with Eivor about a few things maybe the plans or about the whole relationship between me and Sigurd which made me smile softly as I stood up for a moment.
I was walking towards Eivor and Sigurd when suddenly my right shoulder became struck with pain; I grunted in pain as I held it tightly closing my eyes tightly from the pain. It felt like someone was digging a dagger into my shoulder slowly and strong the more the pain was there.
"Arnora!" Eivor shouted out when he and Sigurd ran over to me.
"What's wrong? Were you hit?" Sigurd asked once he was close to my side.
"No, my shoulder just started to hurt" I answered as I felt the pain become worse as time went on.
Sigurd gently took me to a tent that was set up the last time we came here, Eivor opened the tent for us to walk in as he closed it behind him; I sat down on a chair still feeling the pain; Sigurd slowly undid the armor covering my right shoulder trying to not make the pain worse, the moment he took it off the sight of blood was oozing through my shirt.
"If she wasn't hit how it she bleeding?" Eivor asked in confusion when he saw the blood.
"I don't know, she didn't have a wound when she returned yesterday" Sigurd answered as he ripped my shirt sleeve to see the injury more clearly.
The injury looked like I just got it seeing the hole as clear as day, oozing blood still dripped from it as Sigurd looked at it seeing the hole also was on the other side like something was thrown through it.
"It looks like a spear wound" Sigurd said once he knew what weapon this was.
My mind went back to that dream I had not long ago, having me look at my shoulder seeing it was indeed a spear that was thrown at me in that dream; my mind was racing and my heart was pounding at the thought of how this was possible, was it really a dream? Or was it real?
"Arnora, do you have something to tell us?" Eivor asked me when he saw the look on my face.
"Last night I had a strange dream; like living someone else's memory, fire and blood covered the land as a great wolf of some kind saved me and then before I knew it a spear was thrown at me hitting me in the.....right shoulder" I spoke in an unsure voice as I looked at them as I glanced at my shoulder.
Sigurd and Eivor looked at each other in wonder and worry about this since dreams were never something to laugh about when it came to our ways of living.
"If this dream was real, then she needs to speak to Valka; she just came to the settlement this morning before I came here" Eivor said knowing who could help make sense of all of this.
"That would be a good idea, once we are finished here she should go back to the settlement" Sigurd agreed to the idea as he started to wrap my shoulder up.
"No I can still fight with you guys" I tried to argue back with them.
"Arnora, we need to know if these dreams of yours are a warning of some kind; once you are done you can return to us" Eivor said in a calm voice seeing how I didn't want to go anywhere.
I sighed as I looked down at the ground, I didn't want to leave because I would be worried about the both of them fighting in this fight and I was also afraid to learn about what my dream really meant and if it was deadly for the people around me. The sound of a horn was blown telling everyone that the fight will be starting shortly.
"I'll meet you out there Eivor, tell the others Arnora was hurt but nothing more" Sigurd said to Eivor once we heard the horn.
Eivor nodded his head as he turned around and walked out of the tent to tell the others what happened. Sigurd looked at me seeing the worry on my face clear as day. He kneeled down in front of me holding my hands in his.
"Why can't life be simple?" I asked as I sighed for a moment.
"It would to boring if it was" Sigurd said which made me chuckle as he did as well.
"Promise me you'll be safe" I said to him when I looked at him.
"I promise" he said with a warm smile.
I smiled a little too as he gave me a kiss on the lips filled with love and passion, I kissed him back just as much before the horn went off again for the fight to start soon. Sigurd stared at me for a moment before kissing me forehead as he stood up to leave the tent to join the fight as I sighed when I looked at my shoulder again still worried what will happen once I visit Valka.
Hours seem to pass as I waited in the camp for the others to return, the sounds of yells, metaling clashing together and arrows flying were the only thing that I could hear from where I was; seeing the fortress like a warzone. I was really hoping that Sigurd and my brother was alright and not being reckless like they like being sometimes when they get into a fight.
I sighed for a moment trying to clear my head but I couldn't so I thought going down by the river would be a good idea for me to clear my head. I walked down by the river that was behind the camp; my shoulder was less painful now but still was hard to move since it stung a bit. I kneeled down by the river finding some flat rocks to skip across the river since i didn't have anything else to do.
That's when the feeling of someone watching me came out of nowhere which made me stand up from where I sat as I looked around trying to find out where those eyes were.
That's when I turned around and jumped when I came face to face with glowing green eyes looking right into my blue eye. The black wolf I saw two days ago was right up close to me, I just froze in my spot as I looked into its eyes. My breathing was calm as I kept still as the big dog sniffed me for a moment or more almost like checking for something until he sniffed my shoulder having him look angry about something when he sniffed my injured shoulder.
As I stood there I was thinking why this creature of unknown creation was so attached to me and why he would show up from now and then, then a crazy idea popped into my mind and that was to actual pet this wolf; so I took my left hand and slowly lifted up so that it would attack or hurt me with quick movement, the moment I knew it my hand was placed against the fur of the black wolf; it was soft and felt like silk even though he looked rough and strong his fur was so soft and smooth, I could also sworn that he was almost purring in some way for a dog.
"Sister..." came a deep voice from out of nowhere making me jump a little hearing the deep voice before.
"Arnora! Arnora where are you?!" the voice of Sigurd called out to me.
I turned towards the camp happy to hear his voice; I turned to see the wolf not there anymore which was weird since I never heard him leave. But I didn't think about it too much since I turned around and started running over to Sigurd. My smile grew with each moment when I reached the inside of the camp having my heart flip with joy when I saw him.
He smiled as well when he saw me running over to him; the first thing I did was give him a kiss on the lips when I was close to him letting his arm wrap around me being careful about my shoulder but I didn't care because knowing he was safe with me in my arms was enough for me.
"I kept my promise" Sigurd said to me with a warm smile.
"Yes you did" I said with a smile on my face.
He gave me a kiss again still holding me close to him as I held him close to me enjoying my time with him like this, not even paying attention of the two eyes that watched us both together within the thick trees and bushes until the eyes soon vanished again into the forest.
