It started as a normal morning, I didn't sleep much since the event from yesterday was still paying in my head as I held Nicolas in my arm and used from free arm to make my bed after waking up today, I heard the horn from the harbor letting everyone know that someone new was visiting the settlement so I didn't think that much of it.

That was until a moment passed and there was a knock on my door which made me stand up from my chair to walk to the door and open it seeing Eivor there.

"what is it?" I asked a bit confused why he was out of breath a little bit.

"I would tell you but, you need to see it to believe me" Eivor said back to me catching his breath which made me more confused as I closed my door behind me letting me and Eivor walk to the longhouse.

As we got closer to the longhouse I could hear voices one was Sigurd for sure speaking to someone, that was until I stopped at the entrance is when I realized who he was talking to inside the longhouse; glancing at my brother he just shrugged his shoulders not having any answers for me when I looked at him for answers.

Walking into the longhouse the sight of my mother came to my eyes seeing her speaking to Sigurd who sat on his throne speaking of what has happened through out the months but leaving several things out.

"What are you doing here?" I finally spoke which brought their attention to me and Eivor at the entrance.

"Thank gods your alright Arnora, you haven't answered any of my letters the seer told me you were suffering" my mother spoke to me as she walked closer to me but stopped when she noticed my son in my arms who was chewing on one of his toys.

"A child?" she asked in surprise when she looked at me.

"Yes, he is my son" Sigurd's voice spoke out calmly as he stood up from the throne holding his arm out towards me which I couldn't go towards fast enough pass my mother.

We may have fought yesterday but there was no place safer for me and Nicolas right now then being in Sigurd's arm right now as he held me close by the hip, Nicolas seem to perk up when he saw Sigurd which brought a warm smile to Sigurd's face. He seem to be doing better than what happened yesterday my words might have brought him back to his senses.

"I am happy truly but what of your wife Sigurd?" she said but asked still shocked from this news.

"If you mean to ask if there is bad blood between us the answer is no Randvi and I ended our marriage weeks ago" Sigurd answered her still holding me and Nicolas close to him.

She seemed a bit speechless right now with that answer I'm sure she expected something else to happen she's always been like that.

"Why are you here?" I asked wanting to know the reason why she would sail all the way over here.

"I was worried, you weren't answering my letter I had to see for myself the seer told me you were suffering" she explained which only sounded like half of the truth if not the full lie.

"suffering? From what?" I asked getting a bit annoyed by her words.

"does it matter what kind of suffering? I am still your mother and I worry about my child" she said pushing it off making a point that was never there.

"I'm sure you are tired from your journey queen Geirhild, if you wish there is a place to stay in the settlement until you wish to return to Norway" Eivor spoke up this time to end this to lure her away for a while to speak of matters further.

"You are very kind Eivor if your Jarl will be alright with me staying" she smiled a fake smile that I knew very well as she looked at Sigurd.

"We would be honored to have you stay here, Randvi please show her to the place she shall stay" Sigurd agreed before looking over his shoulder as Randvi stood there.

"Of course, please follow me" she said before walking over to my mother asking her to follow which she did leaving the longhouse.

The air never became less thicker than it was with her in the room and with my temper rising with each minute passing.

"I literally want to scream" I said through gritted teeth as it was just me, Sigurd and Eivor in the room finally.

"I know, I wasn't expecting this either she is here for a reason and we need to find out why" Sigurd said now standing in front of me.

"It was interesting seeing her reaction seeing Nicolas, almost like seeing a dead body for the first time" Eivor said as he stood beside me and Sigurd crossing his arms.

"I will have spies watch her until we find out why she came here" Sigurd said again finding out some sort of an idea to start with.

"what makes me angry the most; she thinks we are so stupid we would believe her she never sent a letter to me last time I checked we didn't leave on good terms" I said to them calming down a small bit as we talked.

"Agreed, Eivor could you watch Nicolas for a moment I wish to speak to Arnora" Sigurd said looking at Eivor before looking at me hoping I would agree to talk to him.

"Alright" I gently sighed before giving Nicolas to Eivor before leaving with Sigurd to the Jarl's bedroom.

I crossed my arms as I stayed a few inches away from Sigurd and he noticed that I was still a bit angry at him for yesterday.

"Arnora, I shouldn't have lashed out like I did I wasn't myself" Sigurd started to speak at least he knew he was in the wrong with what happened yesterday.

"Yes you weren't yourself and to be honest.....it frightened me a little" I said before softly whispering the last part as I looked down at the ground.

Sigurd walked closer to me pulling me close to him giving me a kiss on top of my head lingering there as he held me in his arm tightly; his movement told me that frightening me was the last thing he wanted to happen.

"I didn't mean to frighten you, that's the last thing I wish" Sigurd whispered to me, placing his hand under my chin to make me look up at him.

I smiled a little before I stood on my tip toes letting my lips meet Sigurd's lips in a sweet and tender kiss that he returned wrapping his arm around me holding me closer as I wrapped my arms around him holding him close knowing no matter what we face between battles or arguing with each other; we will always find a way through it.
