Damien's POV
It's pretty hard for anyone to get Aaron to like them, and when he said earlier that he didn't hate Rayden's mate, I knew that he thought of her as a friend, he just wasn't going to admit it. I could see the pure happiness in Rayden's face, that his alpha and best friend approved of his mate, and I was going to ask if he approved of my mate too, but I held my tongue.
Jia and Aaron didn't spend any time together yet, so he only knows her as the difficult fiesty girl that swore too much. I don't know what transpired between Aaron and Sophia, but she sure is a very smart and incredible girl to get Aaron to like her so quickly. It usually takes him a long while to build a relationship with anyone. Which means, that if I want my alpha to like my mate, then I'll have to find a way to spend some more time together.
I didn't really care for the rest of Rayden and Aaron's conversation so I left to go see Jia. I can't start trying to get her and Aaron to get along when the two of us hardly even know each other either.
When I walked into her cell, she was drumming her fingers on the table, deep in thought.
"Hey, you," I called out, nonchalantly leaning against the doorframe.
"Hey," she answered, "How'd it go with Aaron?" she asked
"Well, he didn't say what happened when he was in Sophia's cell, but he doesn't seem too upset about anything. He said he just needed a bit of time to process everything, so I left him to brood." I replied, moving off the wall to go sit in front of her.
"He better not think of rejecting Elle. Or I'm totally gonna dropkick him." She threatened. I laughed out loud, trying to imagine that.
"Don't worry, I don't think he'd do that. He's always wanted a mate, he's just kinda confused right now. There's a lot on his mind and he thinks most of this is his fault so he just needs some time to accept things." She nodded in thought.
"Oh yeah! I gotta ask you a favour. Being trapped in an underground cell isn't really the best thing for a werewolf. Elle, Soph, and I really need to let our wolves out sometime if we don't wanna go insane or damage our link to our wolf spirits. We've all found our mates, so our wolves desperately wanna shift and run with you guys."
"Oh, I'll make sure to let Aaron know that. He'll probably release you guys soon anyways. He can't keep you trapped here forever. Even if he wanted to, the moment Elle asks him to let her go, he'd totally give in to her whims. She hasn't asked for anything much, but from the moment he kidnapped her, he let her have whatever she wanted."
"Yeah, Elle rarely asks for things for herself because she thinks it feels selfish. I totally bet that Aaron will spoil her all the time," she joked.
I laughed out loud to that. Aaron had always been the dominant type, but he had also always wanted a mate. I was sure once this whole enemy pack thing blew over, he would accept Elle and never let her out of his sight ever again. Alphas and their protectiveness.
"So, we haven't really gotten to talk since the last time I came down here." I said. Jia looked up at me.
"Yeah, that's true. I guess with everything going on, I've been too busy worrying about Elle and Aaron." she replied. I nodded.
"Well, I think it would be a good idea if we sat down and talked. You know, got to know each other better and stuff." Jia nodded, and I let her go first.
"Well, my full name is Jia Stone, but Elle and Soph call me J. I'm an only child, and my father is the pack's best warrior, so that's why I'm the best female warrior in the pack. My mom died a few months after I was born, during a rouge attack, and my dad has been taking care of me ever since. He brought me up as if I was not his daughter, but his son. I have been spoiled as well, but I have also gotten a lot of training, ever since I was 10. I had insisted because I had always wanted to be like my dad. Elle, Soph and I met when we were 5, and we have stuck together like glue ever since. I always wished I had a brother, because Elle and Soph both have older brothers, but they treat me like I were their younger sister as well, so it works for me." She said.
