Michelle's POV:
I was peacefully sleeping when I heard my cell door open up. Rayden walked in, his head down.
"Morning." I said quietly. I held up a finger to my mouth to indicate that he should be quiet as I gestured to the sleeping baby in the crib beside me. He nodded, gently closing the door before sitting down, making sure to make as little noise as possible
"I need to ask you something" he whispered to me. That was weird, why would Rayden need to ask me something? I nodded for him to continue.
"Sophia seemed very sad and angry and I want to know why."
I looked at him, confused. Sophia as the only one who was happy to be in her cell, isolated and with plenty of time to draw.
"What do you mean by that?" I asked him.
"Well," he replied, "when I walked into her room earlier, all her drawings were thrown across the room and she was swearing. And then she cried." he explained.
Sophia and crying did not go together. I balled up my fists, glaring at him.
"What. Did. You. Do. To. My. Friend." I whisper yelled, angry at him.If he had even layed a finger on her, I would....
"Nothing, I swear!" he whisper yelled back.
"Sophia never cries! If one of you hurt her I will rip out your eyeballs!" I replied, showing him my long nails for emphasis.
"No one did anything!" he replied back putting up his hands in surrender. He looked sad and my gut told me that he wasn't the type to hurt people for no reason.
"Something about this story doesn't make sense. So tell me everything." I said much calmer than before. So he told me everything that had just happened, including the part where he found out that they were mates. He explained how he wouldn't be able to tell anyone from his pack that he had found his mate. I smiled softly and promised not to spill his secret. Rayden seemed right for Sophia, soft spoken and understanding, especially with everything that Sophia had gone through. She needed her mate their for her.
When he finished telling me the full story, I drummed my fingers against the table, deep in thought."She's asleep now?" I asked. He nodded. I was sure that the only reason Sophia behaved his way was due to the nightmares. She had been having them for such a long time, every time on her birthday. It wasn't my spot to tell Rayden this though. Sophia would do that on her own time. I took a deep breath.
"Soph is," I paused to find the right word, "extraordinary. And in more ways than one. I don't exactly know why she would've reacted like that, but if you want to know you should just ask her yourself." It was the best possible answer I could give to him for now.
"Oh. Okay then." he replied, while getting up to leave.
"Good luck with your mate situation." I said. He nodded at me and opened the door.
"Oh and Rayden!" I called after him, "Soph wouldn't reject you. I'm pretty sure that's not the reason she acted that way. Just talk to her and work it out." I said with a soft smile. He smiled back at me before closing the door.
Today was Soph's birthday but I'm pretty sure that she would be asleep right now, after the exhaustion of her nightmare. I took a quick peek at Emerald. She was fast asleep but I knew she would be awake in a little while for her bottle. Emerald was an angel, adorable and she never cried too much. In these few days, she had become the world to me. I gave her a quick peck and mind linked Jia.
"Hey Jia, you awake?" I asked. I heard mumbling and then a grunt.
"Yeah, I'm awake, but these stupid chains are bothering me so much." Jia replied, exasperated.
