Jia's POV:
I could feel someone's warm hand holding mine when I woke up. I opened my eyes to see Sean, lying down on Soph's bed across from me with his arm stretched out to hold my hand. His other arm was protectively wrapped around her as she snuggled on his chest.
He was sleeping like a baby but I had never seen him look so awful before. He had dark eye bags under his eyes, and his face was pale and skinny. He looked like he hadn't eaten or slept ever. But by the expression on his sleeping face, he seemed like he was finally happy to be near Soph again.
Poor Sean. Soph was his only family and he was probably worried sick while she was gone. I could imagine him blaming himself for all of this. At least Soph had me and Elle to keep her company while we were kidnapped, and the three of us never really had to worry about anything in the Blue Moon dungeons. But Sean would have been sitting around here wondering if Soph was dead and it was all his fault.
He blinked awake slowly and then noticed me watching him.
"Hey Sean," I whispered, since Soph was surprisingly still asleep.
"Hey Jia, how're you feeling?" He asked, just as quiet. I smiled at him.
"Never been better," I joked. My head hurt mildly, but other than that I was fine.
He smiled at me, but it was a sad smile, and I was almost angry with the Blue Moons for ruining his lovely grin, but that only made me think of Damien. Oh shit Damien! I hadn't been able to text him. He would be worried sick, all of them would be worried sick.
"Do you mind telling me what happened? From the start," Sean asked, breaking me out of my thoughts.
I had to explain everything to Sean, then I would ask for my phone and text Damien.
"After you all left to go help the Eagle pack, Jessie went into labour. We couldn't get to reach a doctor, so Elle had to deliver the baby. Sadly, Jessie died during birth, but she named her daughter Emerald. Is Emerald okay? We hid her away in the forest when-"
"Emerald is fine, we found a baby near you guys right before we noticed you were still alive. She's currently in the pack nursery," he interrupted, and then gestured for me to continue.
"One of the warriors came by to warn us that the Midnight were attacking, so we grabbed some weapons and fled with Emerald. But unfortunately, they caught up with us. They didn't know who we were at first, but then Evelyn ratted us out!" My voice rose as I remembered what that bitch did, but I quickly put a hand over my mouth to quiet down so Soph wouldn't wake up.
Sean glared.
"Evelyn did that? How dare she!" he spat out in a whisper. "She's the one that alerted us that you guys were taken by the Midnight, but she never said she threw you under the bus. I'm going to make sure she gets kicked out of the pack for her disloyalty."
It gave me a sense of satisfaction to know that we would finally be rid of Evelyn. She was just the worst.
"Well, after that, they knocked us out and drove us back to their pack, and we were kept in separate rooms of their dungeon."
"Is that where they tortured you? You don't have to continue if it's too traumatic," he squeezed my hand softly.
"No, I'm fine. At first they had me chained up and denied me from food for a bit, but-"
Felix banged open the door, making both of us jump.
"Blue Moon bastards are here." He sneered. Sean growled lowly, with the most murderous expression I'd ever seen on his face. He got out of bed and ran after Felix.
