"Are we ready to destroy the motherboxes?" I asked the group. There were almost a dozen of us gathered together. Abigail and I stood holding the first motherbox while Harley and Ivy held theirs. The plan was that once they head home using the motherbox we have then they'll destroy theirs and we destroy ours. That way there is no back and forth for anyone to come and go from our dimension to theirs and vice versa.
Tony and the rest of the Avengers are standing by in case something happens. But as they stand there I press the button on the box and a portal is created to take them to the other side. "I guess this is goodbye." I say uncertainty.
"Yeah it sure is. Peace out bitches!" Harley said as she walked towards the portal.
I knew it was just her way of talking, but that was probably the closest I would hear to a heartfelt goodbye from her. Ivy waved goodbye and began walking for the portal. Once they stepped through I pressed the button again and turned off the portal, leaving them stuck on the other side as I froze the box itself and slammed it into the ground shattering it into a million pieces.
"That's the end of that." I said, looking at Abby. "Now we just have to go to dinners and dances and all that. It'll probably be boring as hell for you, but at least it won't be Hel." I winked.
"You are incorrigible." she said smilingly. "I'm sure it isn't that bad."
"Just wait till you've gone through a couple years of it all. Then you'll see."
The next few months were a blur for us both as her family began their regular trips to Asgard. My family did it's best to actually be good to us all. And tensions with the giants began to worsen. We continued to plan our future beginning with where we would live, both here and on Midgard.
During one of our day trips to Asgard Nydr actually arrived to speak to us. That was when we realized we weren't going to be able to put it off any longer.
He came into the sitting room that father had given us permission to use for our royal meetings since we would both be ruling my home realm. Bowing before us he waited for us to speak. The sitting room wasn't large enough really, there was a table that fit two on one side easily but with how large the frost giants were Nydr really took up the entirety of the other side. There were a few ornamental items like the landscape painting my mother did hanging on one wall, the display case with knick knacks from their travels across the nine realms. Things of that nature.
"My King, my Queen. It has been a good while since the battle with the black rings. Since then neither of you has visited Jotunheim more than for the cursory congratulations to the survivors for surviving. Or for the memorial to those who died."
I remembered that day, it was especially hard seeing the remains of all of those giants, the ones who had remains to be found, being interred under the great hall. Their corpses would be frozen in the eternal ice, preserved for all of eternity to never decay. Thinking that could be my fate one day really put things in perspective for me.
"I remember, it was a very sad day." Abby said, she was getting much better at recognizing when I was off in my own head and needed someone to come to my rescue.
"Indeed it was my Queen. However since then we've had issues with a rogue element of our people. I was hoping that you would be able to come speak with them and clear this all up sire. Perhaps stake your claim and begin ruling Jotunheim for real? There are so many things we need to speak about, at length. Like a group of Jotuns who have been causing panic and unrest with their actions against the crown."
I looked at her, we had talked about this. About it becoming a real possibility, but to actually be presented with it struck a chord. "We will speak to the dissidents about this and see what we can do to dissuade them from continuing their actions."
"When you say actions against the crown. What do you mean exactly?" Abby asked.
