Nico's POV
She's been holed up in her work room for hours on end already. I'm getting worried.
She hasn't even showed her face since she left bed this morning. It's already late in the afternoon and she still haven't taken one step out of that room. That's it. She's overworking herself.
I sigh as I remove the tie on my apron behind me and looked over to the door. Below it was an empty tray.
"At least she ate something." At that, a sigh of relief, folding the apron and putting it on the table. "She can't refuse my delicious cooking. She loves it after all. Of course, also the cook behind it."
What do I do?
If I go over there and call her out, she might snap at me all of a sudden. But the possibilities that she wouldn't isn't bad either.
But what exactly is she doing in there?
Contemplating and worrying about it will bring me nowhere. Being like that isn't Nico-nii at all.
"Let's continue cleaning~ Knowing me, there shouldn't be any already."
I hum my way around the house she bought for us two to live together. It's the best house but is not yet the best home. With her being worked to the bone by her workload.
And I had a day off today.
How can she leave her wife alone and lonely on a day like that?
At that timing, I can hear the sound of a door being opened, creaking. I look to that direction in quiet anticipation.
"...Nico-chan..." I almost felt like my heart was going to leap out of my chest at how scary she was making that seem. I gulped down my nervousness along with the scared me.
"You're giving me a heart attack! At least tie your hair up, Maki-chan! You look like a ghost with one of your eyes covered up with your long bangs." I walked up to her door and opened it wide open to see the horror of a mess unkempt.
"But I have to finish up work." She replied while I lightly push her back to her chair and took a scrunchie from one of my pockets to tie her hair up in a ponytail.
"You'd finish faster if you clearly see everything and here." I hand her her glasses that she left on the tray outside which I already cleaned up. "Why'd you leave your glasses with the tray?"
"I forgot." She takes the glasses and puts in on. I really like it when she has her hair up and glasses on. It's really hot and sexy.
"Anyways, finish up work while I clean this room." Looking at the inside of the room, I was deciding where to start cleaning up.
"Okay." She mumbles as she returns to the grid in the laptop screen.
I was almost done cleaning up the last of the crumpled paper on the ground, done folding the thrown pieces of garment here and there, arranged the bookshelf, and dusted whatever were starting to be covered in dust. There was loud release of air that made me look up to find the chair she was sitting on was unoccupied. Then there were hands wrapping around my waist.
I relaxed when I felt her breath on the back of my neck.
"You done?"
"Finally."
Silence. A few minutes of needed silence.
"Sorry." She mumbles which made me confused.
"What are you sorry for?" I shifted to face her properly. She had that sad look on her face, enough to be called a frown.
"A lot of things. But today in particular. You were complaining by yourself outside this room right?" I flinched and looked away.
"It's fine..." I insisted.
She holds my cheeks and made me look at her. For some reason, my heart was beating fast.
"Is it really fine?" Her face seemed like it was nearing while I look away again, this time bashfully. "What?"
"I thought you were going to kiss me." I took a chance to look at her and she was beet red. She released me from her hold. The next moment, she looks at me again without that embarrassment from earlier.
I thought that was sexy, the glasses is making her sexiness go up the roof. I didn't even get a second to breathe when I felt her lips on mine. We gasped for air.
"To make up, I'll spend time with you tonight."
"But I-"
I was silenced by another kiss.
Finishing the cleanup can be done next time I guess. For now, I'll enjoy Maki-chan to the fullest.
