(Y/n) didn't always like the palace. It was loud and crowded and full of stuffy, boring people. She didn't like guards watching her every move, and having act proper around officials. She spent a lot of her time in the gardens, but even there she was watched. No, she much preferred sneaking off. Sometimes she'd hide in the towns, play with the children at the fountains, or she'd run into the forests to admire the pretty environment. Today was one of the days she went on this wooden excursion.

Imagine her, the princess, a child the size of an eight year old, managing to slip past palace security, running through the woods barefoot and dressing in a simple gown and cloak. Giggling, she climbed over a large log in her path, and carefully set her foot on the grass beneath it. She was chasing after a brown rabbit she'd seen run in that direction. She never found it. What she did find was an injured bird, twittering in distress. At first, she only thought about its beauty. It was a a bright, sky blue and had under feathers the color of the sun. When she got closer, slowly to avoid scaring the bird, she noticed the wing twisted in an odd fashion.

"Oh no, poor birdie!" It screeched in protest at her approach, clearly frightened. Despite being young, (Y/n) understood this. "Don't be afraid, I just want to help. I know a really nice doctor." She soothed. Her hands were the perfect size the hold the bird. It tried to peck and bite and her, but she ignored it to help the poor thing. "I understand you're mad. Sometimes we don't recognize what help is right away. I forgive you, I know you'll see it's nice in time."

The ran back to the town, careful not to move the bird too much. She came across a small home, with a dainty woman inside. The young girl knocked, and the woman answered with an amused smile. She knew exactly who (Y/n) was, but never gave her secret away. "Fedelia! I have found a hurt birdie. Can you help?" Fedelia, a kind hearted woman with dark hair and a gentle touch, nodded and invited her in. "(Y/n), you must stop bringing wild creatures into my home."

"But they're always hurt, and need help. And you always laugh."

"That I do, young maiden." Fedelia laughed. (Y/n) had a smart mouth for a supposed mannered princess. "I'm sure they all thank you." The girl nodded, watching intently as Fedelia worked on the bird. "Will the creature be alright?"

"Always, dear. Come back tomorrow and see. I'm sure you must get back home for dinner. Are your parents aware of your adventures." (Y/n) shook her head with a frown. "They'd tell me to stop. But I do want dinner. I am quite hungry. I have been in the forest since the sun was in the middle of the sky." She leant down to the bird, who had gotten much calmer. "See? I told you I'd help." She cooed.

Suddenly the bird spoke, and it's wing looked that of mangled metal. "You have to save me. Just not in the way you think."

(Y/n) flung herself awake, heart pounding in shock. She'd often dreamed of her childhood, memories that seemed long forgotten. Never had they changed though. They'd always been pleasant. She wondered if this dream was a warning. But what could it possibly mean?
