Nijiro contemplated on whether or not to send a message to Shouko. Thoughts of the other night kept floating around his head and he felt awful for practically forcing himself on her.
However, before he could press the send button, he stopped himself. He didn't want to apologize for his actions over the phone, he wanted to do it personally. Of course, he wanted to apologize with a sober mind.
It took him another hour to finally start driving to her place as he had taken another shower and changed his clothes. He drove slowly while thinking of ways he could stay there longer as he didn't want to just apologize and leave right after.
"N-Nijiro?"
Nijiro instantly smiled at the sight of Shouko. But when his eyes flickered to the person behind her, that smile immediately faded away.
Shouko warily glanced at Dori behind her. He had a blank expression but still, she was nervous of what he was thinking. She didn't want to brush off Nijiro either.
"C-Come in..." She said before opening the door a little wider.
Nijiro hesitated for a second before taking a step inside. He glared at Dori and passed by him to go over to the living room, Shouko following right behind him after locking the door.
The three stood in the middle of the living room looking at each other. Shouko cleared her throat and motioned to the couch.
Nijiro went over to the couch and took a seat while Dori went back to the kitchen counter and drank the glass of juice Shouko prepared earlier. Everything was still awkward for Shouko but the other two didn't feel the same way at all.
"O-Oh, would you like a glass as well?" Shouko offered Nijiro her glass but realized she should get him his own so she poured another glass for him.
Dori narrowed his eyes on Nijiro as he took the glass from Shouko, his fingers grazing her hand for a millisecond.
"What brings you here?" Shouko asked Nijiro before taking a seat on the other end of the couch.
"W-Well..." Nijiro cleared his throat, his eyes flickering to Dori. "Can we talk in private?"
Shouko glanced at Dori, seeing his cold eyes already on her. She felt uncomfortable about the whole thing but it would be even more uncomfortable if this goes on longer.
"L-Let's go upstairs.." She muttered before getting up, Nijiro following closely behind her.
Dori clenched his jaw in irritation but didn't say anything. He wanted to tell her that he was there first and that Murakami should have just left after seeing him there.
When the two got to the top of the stairs, Nijiro decided to speak up. He didn't want to waste any more time.
"Are you that uncomfortable with me being here?" He asked, his heart starting to beat a little faster.
"H-Huh?" Shouko muttered and was about to turn around but before she could, she felt a pair of arms wrap around her as he placed his head on top of hers.
Shouko felt the beating of Nijiro's heart and somehow, it was in the same rhythm as hers. His warmth covered her whole but she felt cold inside.
"N-Nijiro...." She whispered, afraid that Dori would hear them on the other side of the wall.
"I came over here to apologize..." He told her. "....but I think I deserve an apology too, Shouko."
