When Shouko didn't say anything even after some time, Nijiro kissed her roughly as his hand wrapped itself around the back of her neck. And she gasped, a wave of pleasure hitting her.
"Say it, say yes." He whispered, kissing her lips again.
When he pulled away, he looked at her intently. To his surprise, she laughed and tilted her head to the side.
"Are you seducing me to get me to say yes, Nijiro?" She asked.
"You're damn right, I am." He muttered before leaning down to place kisses on her neck, his kisses playful rather than sexual.
"Fine, I guess I'll just have to say yes." Shouko groaned as if it was such a bother to her to say the word. But she was actually smiling, her anger diminished as soon as he almost demanded her to be his. It wasn't even a question and that's what made her so damn giddy.
"You don't know how happy I am right now." Nijiro grinned, feeling it was all just a part of his dream.
"Holy hell, I can't believe you're my boyfriend now." Shouko whispered as her smiled faded, just realizing it. Then she remembered that he was a celebrity, someone she couldn't reach no matter how hard she tried.
Even now that they were officially together, she could still feel the huge gap between the two of them.
But when he leaned down to kiss her, she forgot all about it. All she could think of was them...together. Nijiro always made her feel that he was just a normal guy she knows. She would constantly forget how he practically lived in a different world.
Nijiro pulled away and tucked a strand of her hair behind her ear. He smiled softly as he stared into her eyes, just memorizing every little detail. The very same eyes that captured him from day one.
"I like you, a lot." He whispered, knowing it was a little too soon to say the other L word.
"I like you too, Nijiro." Shouko whispered back.
"Don't say that word."
Shouko froze and stared up at him in shock, thinking which word he meant. He instantly turned cold after she told him that she liked him too.
"Don't add 'too'. It's like you're only saying it just because I said it to you and I don't want that." Nijiro muttered, letting go of her.
Shouko tried not to laugh, she did. But she had a habit of laughing at the wrong situations. Nijiro narrowed his eyes at her and scowled, feeling like she was laughing at him for being too cheesy.
"I'm sorry." She got out after her laughing fit.
"I just thought you looked so adorable."Still, Nijiro kept his pointed glare and his scowl. Shouko pouted and wrapped her arms around his neck before giving him a chaste kiss on the cheek.
"I like you, Nijiro." She whispered.
Even though she had only kissed him on the cheek, his heart still did a summersault. Her innocence kind of rubbed off on him, making him worried. He wanted a long term relationship with her and sooner or later they were going to do it.
But Nijiro didn't want to do it with her any time soon. He wanted her to be fully ready, preferably after marriage. The thought made him chuckle in his head. They had just gotten together and yet he was so worried about sex and marriage already. Maybe the next day, he'll start thinking of having kids.
Just to make sure that he won't be able to do something to her, he didn't stay over that night. As much as he wanted to stay, he couldn't. There was no guarantee that he would be able to hold back if Shouko gave him permission, not that it's likely to happen. He just wanted to make sure nothing would ever happen between the two of them like that.
That night, they talked on the phone until they both fell asleep. The video call was still ongoing even as they start to wake up in the late morning. Surprisingly, they woke up at the same time.
It confused Shouko how Nijiro wanted to avoid more physical contact as well as avoid staying the night when he had done those things countless of times before when they weren't even together.
But she didn't ask him about it and just assumed that it was a guy thing. It was her first time having a boyfriend so she didn't know much about these things.
The next day, Nijiro hung out with her all day. He took photos of them almost every hour and it sort of amused Shouko.
Then, out of nowhere, he slapped himself right in the face. Shouko widened her eyes at him and sat up properly.
"Oh my gosh, why did you do that?" She asked, a bit weirded out by his behavior.
"Remember that dinner we had with our parents?" Nijiro asked, wincing. And Shouko nodded, urging him to go on. "I mistakenly said Sunday instead of Saturday and now I realize that our parents must have known I was lying when I said I was free the next day."
Shouko laughed her head off, making him feel more embarrassed about it. "Don't think about it too much, I'm sure they didn't even notice it! If they did, they probably thought you just confused the two days with each other."
Nijiro sighed and decided to let it go. It wasn't that much of a big deal but it was still pretty embarrassing to remember.
After a few more hours, they had already forgotten all about it. Just as Nijiro was about to upload a photo of them on his story, Shouko grabbed his hand to stop him.
"What are you doing?" She asked like she wanted an explanation why he was going to post it rather than what he was actually doing.
"I'm going to post this on my story." Nijiro said it like it was obvious as they were dating anyway.
"We can't just let it out in the open that we have a relationship, Nijiro." Shouko stated, her brows slightly furrowed.
"What? Why not?" Nijiro asked. He was confused at that point as he didn't see any reason why they should hide their relationship.
"Please, can we just keep it to ourselves for the mean time? No one has to know our business, right?" Shouko muttered, expecting him to agree with her.
"I want to hear at least one perfectly good reason why we should keep our relationship a secret." He told her.
Shouko looked at him like she was tired of it all already. There was sudden dull pain in his chest that he chose to ignore.
"I'm just doing this for the sake of your career." Shouko said to him. "I'm a nobody, Nijiro. I can't compare with all the girls you've been seen with. Your fans will hate me and I don't think I can handle the hate."
Nijiro sighed and closed his phone, realizing she had a point. He actually couldn't care less about his career. If he was really a good actor, he'll still get roles despite his fanbase dying. But what he did care about was if the girl he wanted to protect would get hated on because of him.
When she said yes, he thought it was all going to be easy from there. But he was wrong, so wrong in so many levels.
