Maddy finally convinced her hospital to let her go back to her old schedule— four, 10 hour days; off on Friday's. They agreed to this, only with the promise of Maddy being on very limited floor time; mostly desk duty still. Maddy made this promise because she just missed her old schedule, having off on Fridays.
She was also happy because of how her breaks/sprains were healing— she was down to an ankle brace, one splint on one finger, and a wrist brace. Her knee was a different story, but she would get that figured out soon enough. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Maddy was hanging with her friends at the 126, on one Friday afternoon, when Judd approached the group in the back of the station. Everyone looked at each other carefully, but Maddy was the first to limp up to Judd, and she wrapped him in a giant hug. Mateo wasn't far behind though. "Glad to see ya back Judd!"
"Yeah for sure!" "Good to be back y'all. I know y'all can't work well without me," he winked. Maddy rubbed his back before breaking away to look at him. "Looking good big bro!" Judd kissed the top of her head, "thanks sis."
Maddy smiled before walking away to meet a very tired looking Mateo. "What's up Ma-tay?" "Hey Maddy... nothing, just didn't get a lot of sleep last night.."
"How come?" "I need new friends..." Mateo chuckled. Maddy tilted her head slightly, "oh god.. why?" She chuckled. "Uhm.. my roommate and his friends... kinda blew up our place.."
"Excuse me?!" Maddy gasped. "Yeah.. asshole adjusted the gas pressure, and then his girlfriend had her incense lit.. kaboom." "Well.. what the FUCK MATEO?! That's not something you bring up so casually!"
"Don't tell anyone.." "Uhm...?! Why the fuck not?! Where are you staying??!" "Don't know yet.."
"Jesus. Well I have a spare room, let me know dude! It's open." "Thanks Maddy.." ———————————————————————— It was Sunday, and everyone had off shift. Maddy and Owen were helping TK move in with Carlos. "I'm so glad y'all are finally doing this guys!" Maddy said as she walked upstairs with a box TK's clothes. She stopped halfway, to admire two of her favorite guys. TK and Carlos kissed each other, ensuring Maddy saw. "We are too. Thanks for the support Maddy. Love you."
"I love you both," she smiled before finishing her walk up the steps. She dropped the box on Carlos's bed, and smiled to herself before she turned back around and headed downstairs; just in time to see Owen walking back inside with a worn box, adorned with a bow. Maddy approached Carlos, and stood beside him as TK took the box and opened it. "Aw dad! Marlon Blendo.. we can't accept this!"
"Marlon Blendo?" Carlos whispered to Maddy. "Owen's all time favorite blender.. yes that's a thing." Maddy laughed. She and Carlos tuned in Owen and TK again, just as they were sharing a hug. Owen broke the hug to wink at Maddy. "Alright guys.. let's get organized in here." He said as he started to walk to their kitchen. "No dad! We got it, really!" "Yeah.. Captain Strand, you've already spent basically your entire Sunday helping us move.. you and Maddy both!"
