Mining

Luna's eyes flew open wide. "Gemstones? Gemstones?" She jumped up, almost knocking over the stick that was holding the fish over the fire and scattering sand into the sea.

"Yes. I found them the other day. Come with me, I'll show you." Moon lowered her gaze and stalked towards the forest.

Luna followed her, readying her weapons- a sword, her bow, and arrows. She made sure that her flame-shoes were secured and she stepped into the forest. 

Moon walked on, glancing around. She had left bright pink ribbons tied on trees so she could always find her way to the gemstone cave.

Luna saw a cave before her. Inside was multicolored gemstones, glowing in the sunlight. 

"Woah," Luna whispered.

"Let's mine all of them and sell them at the market in the town nearby!" Moon said. Moon pulled two tools from her backpack: pickaxes. Luna took two bottles of fresh water and set them safely on a tree, then took a pickaxe from Moon. The pickaxe was heavy in her hands, and Luna pictured herself holding it all day, huffing and puffing as she tried to mine the precious stones. 

But she had to.

"Okay. Let's start!" Luna took a deep breath. 

Together, the two girls raised their pickaxes and hit the stone hard. 

Sometime later, Moon called, "Careful, don't damage the gemstones!"

Luna nodded, sweat dripping down her forehead. She hit at the rock beside a gemstone and the gemstone fell out of its socket in the rock. Luna caught it before it hit the ground, and put it in the basket beside them. 

The basket was nearly full. 

"Okay, let's cover the cave with leaves to hide it. We've done a lot today, and we still have to go to the market to sell." Moon sighed. 

Luna handed Moon her pickaxe, her arms throbbing with pain every time she moved it. 

"Ow." Luna bared her teeth. She squeezed her eyes shut.

"I know, right? We need to carry this to the market. It will take a lot of power." Moon groaned as she lifted one side of the bucket up. 

Luna lifted the other side up.

"Let's... Go...." Luna gasped, and together, the two girls stumbled towards the market.
