27//calendar

Autumn starts smiling, she loves seeing her friend being this happy. She knows El always wanted a family, they used to fantasise about it all the time. They fantasised getting adopted together by a rich family who could give them infinite candy. Or they fantasised about this other family who were secret spies and they adopted them to raise them to be spies, too.

"I'm so happy for you, I'm sure your new mom will be awesome!" Autumn says smiling.

"She is awesome! She told me she's friends with some famous people and she also used to travel a lot when she was my age. Although I think those might be lies to get me to like her." El starts explaining all the details about her day, Autumn listens without complaining. Eventually, Miss Blanchard and soon to be El's mother come walking towards the girls, telling them they're done with most of the paperwork and El will be able to move in in about a month.

"It's nice to meet you, I'm Autumn, El's friend." Autumn introduces herself. The woman smiles.

"Hi Autumn, it's nice to meet you too. I'm Lila Rossi, soon to be El's mother." They shake hands. "I should get going now. I'll see you soon, El." Lila smiles, El stands up, saying she'll walk her outside.

"You have to help me pack my stuff later, we both know I'm not organised!" El shouts to Autumn right before walking through the front door with Lila. Autumn laughs, giving her thumbs up, although her response was too late for El to see.

"I'm happy for her." Miss Blanchard says smiling, looking at Autumn. "Me too."

The next few weeks seem to go slower than usual. Minutes feel like hours and hours feel like days to El. She made a calendar to count down the days until the adoption. Three days left. Autumn is coming over after school today to help El pack her stuff as promised.

"Lady Noire!" Ladybug shouts, throwing a shoe to Lady Noire, waking her from her thoughts. She forgot they were fighting an akuma, don't ask how that's possible.
Lady Noire catches the shoe, which turn to dust thanks to her already activated cataclysm. Ladybug catches the akuma flying out and purifies it. She then repairs everything and jumps down next to Lady Noire. "I noticed you're not as focused as usual lately, is something wrong?" She asks.

"Nothing serious or bad, don't worry about it. I'll be back to normal in a week, promise." Lady Noire says. Ladybug smiles, saying that she's glad it's not that serious.

A few moments later their miraculous beep, they tell each other goodbye and leave.

They somehow manage to make it in time for school, which is an actual achievement for them. It's going to be another long and boring day, only three long and boring days left until adoption.

Upon arriving in the classroom, Autumn is dragged into a conversation with Roux and Catherine almost instantly. El sits down at her desk without saying a word, ready to do absolutely nothing for the next hour, but is forced to join the conversation too because of Autumn asking her which season she likes most. Apparently, Roux and Catherine were discussing whether summer or winter was the best, but Autumn told them she liked fall most. "I guess all seasons are fine, but summer is too hot and I can't skate when it snows, so I think I like fall or spring most."

El doesn't join their conversation after that, she casually looks around the classroom, eavesdropping at some conversations here and there. Yves and Celine are having some trouble in their relationship. Ash is telling Austin about his new art idea. Violette and Sarah are gossiping about some girl online. Miles is telling Louis about the akuma attack that took place earlier this morning, Louis doesn't hear him talk though, he's lost in thoughts.

"Something wrong?" El hears Miles ask.

"Nothing for you to worry about." Louis responds. His recovery is going well and he's been attending school again for a few weeks now.

"Just tell me, I'd rather worry with you than let you worry on your own." Miles responds again, followed by Louis saying his little sister has been acting weird lately. She doesn't sleep well and she sometimes runs off somewhere without a word. She isn't talkative and he doesn't know what's wrong, but she won't say a thing when he confronts her about it.

At that moment, the classroom door opens and their teacher walks in. "I apologise for being late, I had some car trouble. Quick, get your books and start reading the theory of the next chapter, we'll discuss it in 10 minutes." Everyone obeys and starts reading.

Three days left until adoption.

After school, Autumn and El walk to the orphanage together, talking about nothing in particular. When arriving in her room, Autumn criticises El on what a mess it is on which El responds, saying "That's why I asked you to come, isn't it?"

Autumn starts cleaning and packing. El tries to help too, but since she doesn't know where to start, it's just her picking up stuff and putting it down in another random place in her room.

They're basically done when it's time for dinner. El has to pack some last clothes and other things she uses on a daily basis by herself later on, but she's sure she can manage to do that on her own.

Autumn is about to leave, but El won't let her and insists they eat dinner together. They both get a plate with some food and sneak outside to sit down in the yard. "Thanks for your help today, I'd be lost without it." El says, making Autumn laugh, which results in El asking what's funny.

"I don't think I'll ever get used to you thanking me."

"Then I won't thank you ever again, shithead." El says jokingly, making Autumn laugh even harder.

"Shithead? That's the nickname you're going with? Out of every existing and non-existing word to ever exist, you decide to call me shithead?" Autumn isn't able to breathe properly thanks to her laugh, which makes her sound like a pig. El can't hold her laughter anymore and starts laughing too, saying "Shut up." in the progress. She takes a short pause and then adds "Shithead." Making Autumn laugh even louder than before, resulting in El laughing more, too.

After they've calmed down and finished eating their food, Autumn decides she should go home now and leaves for her own house. El waves her goodbye and then walks inside. She sketches a little bit in her sketchbook and then decides to go to sleep, crossing down February 12th on her calendar.

Two days left until adoption.
