Chapter Twelve

I woke up that morning, with Loki has gone, I hummed and sat up, walked out of the room, and saw Steve was still asleep on the floor, and since Loki slept with me, the couch was seemingly untouched, Loki sat at the table and I smiled walking over. "Hey," I whispered and he looked up at me. "Merry Christmas Zmeya." I smiled and he hummed.

"What's the point of this holiday?" He asked.

"Well, for people who believe in God it's a celebration for Jesus' birthday. But it's a day for family, and Santa Claus comes and leaves gifts for the kids. For us adults, we give gifts." I shrugged, and he hummed.

"You Midgardians are questionable." He said.

"I agree." I smiled and looked out the window. "Doing the illusion didn't tire you at all?" I asked and he shrugged.

"Not much, I didn't do a tangible one with him, since he's too scared to touch me." Loki smiled and I heard a grumble.

"I'm gonna wake him, cause it looks like we can call our ride." I pointed to the window where there was no snow or wind outside. I stood up and walked over to Steve who slept, I got down on my knees and shook his shoulders. "Stevie," I said and suddenly he was grabbing me and pulling me down underneath him.

"Sh." He whispered and I struggled.

"Steve let me go!" I giggled and he shushed me again. "Dedushka please!" I giggled trying to get away. "The blizzard is over Dedushka, we get to go home after the mission," I said and he groaned and let go, where I broke free, I scrambled to my feet. "Guys come on, let's get ready." I sighed grabbing my earpiece and turning it on. "Hello?" I called as I walked into the room, I immediately heard something back.

"PRINTSESSA?!"

"Bratt! The blizzard is over, we can finish the mission, I have located the entrance of the HYDRA base as well."

"I've been so worried when Captain went to find you, we had no communication, and the whole team regretted sending him."

"Wait... you sent Steve?" I faked my worry.

"Wait, he never-"

"Pietro, you sent steve? he never-"

"Y/N don't play with me! did steve never come?!" His worry overtook my face and I snorted. "Y/N!!"

"I'm sorry! yes, he is, he's here." I said and he sighed.

"I'll get the others, suit up." He said and I did, I was just finishing up buttoning my corset when Loki walked in without knocking, I looked at him and he looked at me, he was suited up already and I hummed. "You don't knock anymore? This trip got you comfortable?" I asked and he flushed, he reached up, staring at me and then knocked on my door, making me roll my eyes.

"I knocked. I wanted to ask if you were ready for this?"

"Are you?" I asked and he looked at me humming. "Loki I have a question," I said and he sat down as I put on my jacket facing away.

"Ask away Darling." He said and I hummed.

"Would you become an avenger if given the choice?" I asked and he looked back at me, I could see in the reflection, that his face read confused.

"I never thought I would get a choice." He said.

"If you did though?"

"I..." He looked at me again, as I watched through the reflection. "I don't know Darling."

"The world wouldn't fear you anymore, you'd be a hero, saving people, making people feel safe rather than scared," I said and I continued watching.

"Why does that sound rehearsed?"
