The starless sky was casket-black and brooding. Even the clouds seemed morose. Gelid hands clasped algid steel as they gazed upon their foe. The cold, north wind keened and mewled through both the valley and the souls of their men.
The clouds cleared.
Their weapons glimmered cruelly under the eerie moon. Its phantom flame sent ribbons of chrysalis-silver light spilling onto the upraised shields of the warriors. The monsters swarmed and swayed below them like corn in a field, yet it seemed there were more of them than a thousand bushels could hold.
Steve, who had to be their commander raised their proud pennant aloft in defiance. It represented their dreams, their lives and their salvation.
If it were taken, it would mean they were dead.
They crashed upon the castle walls as Steve screamed; "Assemble," in desperation. Their iron-shod feet clapped off the frozen ground like the rumbling of thunder.
A tempest of swords, guns, energy blasts and magic soared into the sombre sky. They sizzed and sizzled before hitting their targets.
Fountains of magma-red and blue blood sprayed into the air. It was butchery. They all hoped that they would survive the day.
While the Avengers and their army were fighting, Anya was sitting on the rooftop, creating portals all around her. Clapping her hands purple mist left her body and encased the planet.
The mist travelled through the portals; the portals opening at the time and place of those lives taken by Thanos before the Snap.
Loki and the rest of Thor's people rose from the portals and joined the fight, giving them an even bigger edge.
She watched as Clint ran through the masses of fighting and dead bodies, his body shimmering with a faint purple as she encased a shield around him. In fact, all those who fought to end Thanos' reign of terror had shields encasing them, making them all shimmer with a purple hue.
She smiled as T'Challa took the fake glove from Clint and ran with it, that was until Thanos struck him down.
Growling in anger, she teleported, disappearing from the rooftop and was about to land in front of the man, but instead landed on a debris watching with a smirk as Wanda intercepted the mad man.
Wanda faced him, her eyes glowing red as her hands started glowing with her powers. "You took everything from me."
Thanos derided as he swung his blade. "I don't even know who you are."
She sneered as she levitated, her feet leaving the ground and raised pieces of debris. "You will."
Thanos tried to stab and kill Wanda with his double-bladed sword, but Wanda shoved it away. She then used her powers to try and crush him.
Leaving the woman to fight with murderous rage, Anya found the remaining of Thanos' children, Ebony Maw, Proxima Midnight and Corvus Glaive; Cull Obsidian having been killed by Scott while he was enlarged.
Floating down to the ground, Anya smiled as she came face to face with Proxima, Ebony and Corvus.
She sped to them, throwing balls of mist at Proxima who flew backwards with the force. Snarling, Anya felt her body crackle with energy, as she shone so bright, she became a beacon to all those on the battlefield to see.
A screech filled the air, sounding from all corners of the combat zone, as she rose, her lips curled up in a snarl.
"I rushed killing you last time, not this time!" Anya cooed as her tendrils kept both Corvus and Ebony at bay.
