Anya watched as her friends and family were tossed around like ragdolls, mere toys for a child to play with.
But they weren't toys, they were heroes, and heroes didn't stop fighting till they had no more air to breath.
Gritting her teeth, Anya willed her power to surface. Her eyes turned purple, and her hair stood tall, and the energy surrounded her. Her purple wisps and tendrils circled around her as they lashed out, much like one would use a whip.
"Anya don't!" Steve cried out.
It was too late. She knew if she didn't try, they would fail. She couldn't let that happen, not without at least trying to defeat him or at least slow him down, allowing Wanda to destroy the stone.
She threw as much energy at the man who was sent tumbling backwards several meters.
He stood up; mouth slightly agape. Punching the air before him, he used the Power Stone, but it didn't send her flying back like all the rest.
Bucky watched with horror filled eyes. Her scream was ear-splitting, but it didn't sound like someone about to die. It reminded him of the screams he had from when he had become a super soldier. She was screaming as if she was absorbing the purple energy that no one else couldn't get past. He knew she was powerful, but this was unparalleled.
"What the hell is she doing?" Sam asked. He was amazed that she was holding so well against Thanos.
No one else had seemed able to do such a thing.
"She's going to get herself killed!" Natasha cried.
Anya could feel the energy flowing into her body. She didn't know why she was absorbing it or how. It seemed to throw everyone else away like debris from a bomb.
She could see the shock on Thanos' face, he clearly didn't expect to see someone like her here, someone able to withstand the might of the Power Stone. She had long since stopped screaming from the initial shock of the energy filling her system.
She was used to it, the feeling of things unnatural in her blood.
Thanos changed his tactics, using the power of all five infinity stones, he slammed the gauntlet into the ground in front of her.
The blast of energy knocked Anya off her feet. He had sent a gust of energy that was powerful enough to level an entire city.
He had managed to keep it contained enough to where only the pesky woman had been effected by it.
"Anya!" Steve screamed, but it was too late. She had been thrown too far away to hear him, that was hoping she was even conscious.
Wanda watched all this over one shoulder, and turned back to Vision and added her left hand to her tearful effort.
Steve slid under a blow from Thanos, anger fuelling him and came up swinging his deployed arm-shields, punching Thanos in the gut and chin.
He managed to grab the gauntlet, keeping Thanos' fingers un-clenched.
Thanos looked briefly impressed at the man's efforts as he screamed before slamming a fist into his head and rendering him insensible.
Wanda looked over her shoulder again and saw Thanos approaching unopposed.
She swung her left hand around to fend him off with a gust of scarlet energy and forced him back despite his blueish-purple energy shield, but then he started to make slow headway.
Vision softly spoke. "It's all right. It's all right. I love you."
At those words, the yellow Mind Stone finally began to crack. Vision's face was overcome by joyful peace, and as the crystal fragments completely, a pulse of pure yellow energy exploded from him, shuddering the trees for many meters around his epicentre.
