Tony yawned as he woke up finding himself still in the labs. He had stayed late in the labs working on Dum-E but had lost concentration and had finally slept for the first time in a couple of days. Whenever he struggled to sleep and the reasoning wasn't nightmares, Tony knew it to be a bad omen.
The first time that had happened was a couple of days leading up to the crash that had killed his parents. His mother had almost cancelled the trip because she knew her son wasn't sleeping, but as usual Tony's father didn't care about his son, so they continued with the trip as planned.
Too many years were spent with Tony wondering what would have happened, if he had been able to convince his parents to stay home.
Shaking his head to clear that direction of thought, the man stumbled out of the lab and into the elevator. He knew the tower was basically empty as Clint was out doing god knows what, and Natasha was on an assignment.
Steve halved his time with his flat and the tower; why Tony didn't know. He guessed it was part of being independent after being asleep for over sixty years.
Grumbling to himself about the different aspects of mechanical work; Tony darted around the couches to the kitchen where there was a lovely cup of joe waiting to be devoured by him.
He cooed sweet nothings into the streamy hot liquid. Ignoring the beeping from his watch, Tony stayed silent while he drank; the dark fluid cleared the drowsiness.
"Sir, are you awake now?" The electronic voice snipped at the man with a sense of attitude.
"Yes Jarvis. What is it?" Tony snapped, not yet quite awake.
"There was disturbance in the Lab," Jarvis called out, the AI's voice startled Tony from his cup.
The man growled at the disturbance, but the AI continued. "Sorry sir, someone disconnected my audio senses. The disturbance was while you were asleep."
Tony leaped up, "What do you mean 'while I was asleep'?" He yelled.
The man looked positively disturbed and creeped out. "Show me."
A video of the last three hours immediately appeared against the wall. It showed Tony snoring as the robot named Dum-E wheeled around the room cleaning everything including Tony.
Watching a robot dusting off a person along with the rest of projects was quite amusing. The screen showed as a purple portal was created, and a woman walked through.
Her blonde hair hid her face from being seen but there were still noticeable markers about her. Her height, and clothes she wore suggested she was an agent. But an agent from where? S.H.I.E.L.D, CIA, FBI or possibly even worse ~ Hydra.
Tony watched as the woman smiled and wrapped the blanket that Tony never remembered grabbing, around his shoulders and properly chastised Dum-E before making the robot leave Tony to sleep.
The woman proceeded to sit down and write a letter and when she was finished, she pulled out several documents from her bag and left, departing through the same purple portal.
Running for the elevator, Tony snarled as it took too long for it arrive at his lab. Taking his time, Tony scanned every corner of the room, but nothing looked out of place, except for the blanket now being on the floor from him jerking awake, and Dum-E was peacefully shutdown behind his desk.
Sitting on his desk is the letter he had watched the unknown woman wrote. The calligraphy was beautiful, something he would have expected to come from his mother's hand.
Anthony Stark,
Here is everything you need to ensure that one James Buchanan Barnes is proven innocent.
