(trigger warning for unintentional transphobia)

(not really frerard and pretty short)

"Well, I'll be going home now."

Gerard wrapped his grandmother into a tight hug. He'd miss her, but knew she'd come back soon. She liked to see her grandson often, and even after fourteen years of the same routine, her visits never once got old. The only reason she ever really left Gerard's house was because she needed to go back to her nursing home for a little while so she could talk to her peers as well and spend some time in her own home. He breathed in her deeply perfumed scent, then pulled away. Her lips curved upwards. She'd already said goodbye to Mikey, who was upstairs in his room, so she and Gerard now stood downstairs, Gerard about to escort her out.

"You keep drawing," she ordered. "I think it'll go somewhere soon."

Gerard nodded in agreement, knowing there wouldn't be time to get his own words out before she accidentally cut in and then spent the next half minute apologizing for her "terribly rude behavior." She never did seem to learn, and the same pattern happened over and over. He'd trained himself not to even speak until it'd been quiet for at least five seconds.

She walked out the door as she finished, "Mary Grace Way. I can just see the glowing lights now, right outside your big exhibit."

Gerard pasted on a smile, as he was used to doing, and nodded again. "One day," he decided, but he wasn't necessarily referring to the exhibit anymore.

One day, that name would change. One day.
