a thunderstorm raged on outside as namjoon took off his shoes and stepped into the apartment. it was save to say he didn't expect his boyfriend to be standing in front of the floor to ceiling windows with this weather, especially not as he seemed to be in little space.
"jiminie?" namjoon asked, chuckling.
jimin turned away from the window, a light green pacifier hanging loosely between his lips and his eyes wide open with curiosity. "daddy!" he exclaimed, voice filled with happiness. "look, is raining!" his pacifier caused a little lisp to curl into his words.
"it is," namjoon hummed. jimin turned back to the window, pressing his hands and face all over it. namjoon winced. he was going to have to clean that.
a loud thunder sounded through the apartment after it was lit up by a big lightening flash. "woah..." jimin whispered. "so cool..."
namjoon smiled at the adorable boy. when he got in his car to drive back home from work, he was worried jimin was going to be scared by the thunderstorm he heard coming closer to the city. it was a pleasant surprise jimin actually seemed to be enjoying it.
another flash and thunder and suddenly the living room went dark. a high pitched scream came from jimin, who seemed to have frozen in place.
"daddy?" he whispered.
"yes, angel?"
"is dark..."
"that's right." namjoon smiled. he couldn't see jimin's face, only his silhouette visible because of the light coming from the occasional flashes. "you don't have to be scared." namjoon assured the younger. he walked up to jimin and hugged him from behind.
"okay," jimin nodded carefully. he grasped onto namjoon's arm that wrapped around his waist.
a flash was visible in the distance, lighting up both males' faces and the room behind them. jimin mumbled out a woah again, easily mesmerized by the storm.
namjoon held jimin for a while, but then he remembered he was hungry after working all day. he slowly unwrapped himself from the other, but jimin didn't even seem to notice. it wasn't until namjoon called him, that jimin tore his eyes away from the view outside.
his eyes reflected the warm light coming from the candles namjoon lit on the coffee table. namjoon sat on the floor next to it, placing two plates with dinner leftovers from the day before on the low table.
"candles?" jimin wondered, slowly approaching namjoon. instead of sitting down on the other side of the table, he pressed up against namjoon, wary of the fire.
"yeah," namjoon smiled, wrapping his arms aeound jimin. "this way i can see your pretty face better."
"daddy~" jimin giggled. he pressed his hands to his face, but namjoon was quick to peel them away.
"nuh-uh," he smiled.
jimin blushed, pressing his mouth, including pacifier, to namjoon's cheek. "thank 'ou,"
namjoon gave jimin a kiss on the cheek as well and then looked at jimin with a serious face. "i want to make a new rule," he started, making jimin's eyebrows furrow. "the candles are safe to use, but only if we don't touch them." namjoon explained.
jimin glanced at the candles, but directed his gaze back to namjoon quickly. "they're really safe?"
"yes, angel. i promise." namjoon ruffled jimin's already messy hair. "we'll keep paying close attention to them and blow them out when we leave the room. we don't touch the fire and only i can move the candle, okay? can we make those rules?"
"okay, daddy." jimin agreed, nodding his head eagerly. "wanna be safe."
"you're a smart boy," namjoon smiled, kissing jimin's cheek again. "let's eat now!"
