"Kiara?" Ryan called out as he came back from what he said was an important call with his dad, only to find Kiara already asleep, well, pretending to be.

His index finer trailed over her glossy skin, proceeding to brush some hair away from her face and behind her ear before he walked away.

Kiara opened her eyes that were shining with absolute guilt.  Ryan wasn't special to her. She didn't pick him. He just happened to be there at the right time, which still wasn't right enough.

7. If she were to date Ryan, she'd only be lying to herself since JJ was all she could think about.

She knew he wanted to be more than a hookup, but a hookup is all that Kiara needs.

And suddenly she was having an identity crisis, fearful that she's manipulating a person that has the same intentions as she did when she fist met JJ.

Yet, being the bad guy only hurt after long relishing moments of pure joy, just a little price to pay, she thought.

8. What came after sex with JJ was (most of the times) more blissful than the sex itself, for the laying awake to watch the sunrise from the large window all whilst eating leftovers and talking about life was unmatched.

With her being glued to the hospital bed, she couldn't find a way to avoid Ryan the next day, and the anxious look on his face described the exact conversation Kiara didn't want to negotiate.

"Hey, how are you feeling today" He walked in with his gushy smile he always had on, planting a peck on Kiara's lips before sitting himself on the edge of the bed.

8. She didn't get chills like he had while experiencing JJ's kisses

"Great, I am great" Kiara replied whilst nodding her head, too much movements happening to hastily for her to comprehend them. She was barely ready for a conversation let alone breaking Ryan's heart by telling him she's not looking for the same things he was.

"Uh, can we talk about yesterday?" He blunted out, yet it still came out naturally. Perhaps it was because of his comforting smile that resembled JJ's.

"I just feel like we need to discuss a few things before we let that happen again" He added when his question was met with silence.

"Like what?" Kiara asked with fake enthusiasm that didn't nearly match Ryan's, hoping it transpired as genuine as needed.

He pondered a while, "Collage, and marriage and kids, and plans for the future, because if we don't want the same things then we really shouldn't proceed this thing between us."

Kiara expected an interrogation on whether she wants in a relationship, yet she had no clue what she wants the rest of her life to look like, and was certainly not expecting Ryan to ask that.

'Just a little price to pay, just a little price to pay,' she recited inwardly before she queried, "Okay then, what are your plans?"

Ryan sighed in relief, glad Kiara wasn't as terrified as the other girls had been while he informed the same information after a casual hookup, "Well, for starters, I like Outer Banks enough to spend the rest of my life here, plus, my father has promised to let me run the camp once he found me ready"

"Yeah, me too, it's where I grew up, I love it here" Kiara forced a smile as she nodded her head and dismiss the hallucination of JJ leaning against the wall, arms crossed across his chest and he implied all the ways Kiara actually wanted her future.
