Paroxetine (Paxil) is an antidepressant helpful in affecting unbalanced chemicals in the brain. Kiara was ordered to take. She was used to taking medications, she takes a few for her low blood pressure. Yet another pill to add to the list, Kiara thought. She was just glad she got to go home. She was mostly silent, avoiding her mother and her melodramatic lectures, casually nodding along as if she was listening, to which she wasn't.
Living in one's head might be a marvelous place, but for Kiara, it was hell. The nightmare that occurred brought up the dreadful events from a nigh Kiara so desperately wanted to forget. That, in addition to being nearly hit by a car, which was another near death experience Kiara crossed of the long list. Maybe the world wanted her dead.
She rested in a bed hat wasn't her, and still couldn't silence her thoughts enough to sleep. Her mother thought it was a good idea for Kiara to share a room for the night, or at least till Kiara felt like herself again.
Anna was a lawyer who's priority was a client, not sleeping, not her daughter sleeping, or anything to do with sleeping, which was something she scarcely got, Kiara could tell.
And as much as Anna tried, extremely hard, to stay awake, her eyes closed and her mind was shut down. Kiara didn't blame her. She worked really late hours, she deserved sleep, but so did Kiara.
Even through the twilight in the room, Kiara could see a glimpse figure of her mother. She was knocked out, and so Kiara took the chance to sneak out, not to anywhere outside the house, just her room.
It was scary at first, being there, after the nightmare and the sleep walking, but the medications she took earlier helped her sleep faster.
Then another nightmare supervened. It was a car, she was in a drivers seat, but she wasn't in control of the wheel. The vehicle ran on its own, moving wherever it wanted, luring Kiara in it.
She even saw the same SUV she crashed in, that was before she shut her eyes tight awaiting the crash to occur, but as the car neared the SUV, she sprung open in her bed, gasping for air as her eyes that were connected during the dream were now opened in wide circles. She was thankful she recognized the nightmare, and in turn, realizing that she was viewing reality at that moment.
Yet she felt a touch on her shoulder even through her T-shirt, before she could even get her heart rate back to normal.
"You okay?" A male sound asked worriedly, concern audible. Then there was a bit of shuffling against the sheet before a figure arose from beside Kiara.
"Kie?" The voice softened even more, as a palm wrapped around Kiara's bicep, massaging it lightly. It sounded as if the person speaking was aware of Kiara's issues with nightmares, for he didn't say anything, but for some reason just him being there was comforting enough.
"Yeah, i was just dreaming." Kiara declared confident in her statement. The luring shadow alongside Kiara remained worried, Kiara could sense that.
She looked down on the arm thrown around her shoulders. It had rings on it, and they were familiar. As she twisted her head to see JJ viewing her through sympathetic eyes, he only graced her with a smile, almost pitying her. But other than that, he seemed casual enough, as if he was used to appearing in Kiara's bed out of nowhere.
After keeping her eye on him, she asked in bewilderment, "Wait a second...JJ, what are you doing here?"
Her tone was more so confused than shocked, but before JJ could give her an answer, the door opened a crack, a squeaking sound emitting.
"Hang on," She ordered, attempting to slip her legs out from under the covers, only to be held back by JJ.
"Just leave it," He said, keeping a tight grasp on Kiara's arm, but Kiara was determined to do otherwise.
