The air was ripe with smoke

The air was ripe with smoke. Choking all those who breathed it in. Callahan's brigade was burning and capturing villages in a fifty mile radius around the Imperial Capital. Whoever the Sadera itself was untouched from any damage that Krieg has done on the land. It was noon but the soon was a shadow of its former glory. The thick smog of smoke was blocking out the air. Anything outside the Capitals limit was literal hell the citizen of Sadera enjoyed the rare joy of peace. For now.

"Your majesty the enemy are burning our villages. This cannot stand! We must sally out and fight the enemy face to face this is the only way we can take back our cities Now is not the time to be aggressive with our tactics." Zorzal shouts.

The Imperial Senate was a shell of its former self, many Senators and lords had fled the capital in attempt to keep their land from burning or escape the war. A few brave or stubborn men stood behind.

"We don't have any hope of winning in a pitched battle Prince Zorzal. Remaining behind the walls might be the only viable course of action." A senator shouts.

"No the prince is right, we might be able to surprise them enough to route the enemy force!" A few shout in defense of the prince.

Princess Pina stands up to state her opinion. She never really showed up to senate hearings because she wasn't allowed to vote on the account of her being a female. Her fists clenched with rage or maybe... annoyance.

"Your majesty. I hate the idea of surrendering as much as the next person. But it would not hurt to parlay with the enemy commander. If not to discuss terms for a surrender then to buy time. I'm sure the other lords will come to our aid with levies and other legions from the Imperial Army!"  Pina shouts, silencing the senate.

"My sweet naïve sister. This is war, you should be playing dress up somewhere." Zorzal boasts.

"Exactly Zorzal this is war, the enemy is superior in any way. So stop playing with lives like toy soldiers and come up with a viable plan!" Pina argues.

"ENOUGH!" Emperor Sol shouts

"We shall parlay with the enemy on equal grounds. To buy time for any reinforcements that may come or even an escape. We will throw some sort of feast in honor of the festival of the scythe. It isn't about the gods so it wont offend them hopefully. Pina see to it that a feast is arranged. I WANT EVERYONE IN THIS ROOM TO BE THEIR!" Emperor Sol frantically states.

"Lieutenant Colonel Sir, 2nd Battalion is encountering trouble in North East of here twenty clicks

"Lieutenant Colonel Sir, 2nd Battalion is encountering trouble in North East of here twenty clicks. Some Pysker is causing an insurgency" A messenger dismounts from his horse at Callahans command tent.

"Why didn't you vox Guardsman. Rank and Serial number?" Callahan asked.

"Specialist 1945-6522-2988. The pysker and his insurgents are selectively attacking our voxcasters. All were disabled."

"Hmmm they are becoming more smarter. Its no matter. Ask the quartermaster for another Vox caster and head back to you battalion. Make sure your Battalion Commander hangs everyone involved corpses on the side of roads. Dismissed."

"Yes sir." The messenger lets out a salute before running back to his horse.

A large column of Guardsmen were marching by the tent. The camp was buzzing with activity. Large units of soldiers leaving, returning, or resting in some of the trenches. The brigade hasn't completely surrounded the capital but they didnt need to because of the smaller units of the brigade were basically blocking every road out of the capital.

A few Imperial soldiers with a white flag in hand. They were allowed to approach. But when they got their. It became apparent they weren't surrendering. A white letter got passed up the chain of command all the way to Callahan. An invitation? To a ball. He would have to check in with Dane for confirmation of orders.
