Ava
I woke up earlier than anyone. Jess let Juli and I stay home from school today for Ben's birthday, I'm very grateful.
James helped me get a cake and decorations last night. I woke up at 5am to get everything set up. I hung streamers up, I put balloons out, and a happy birthday sign up.
I left the cake and the fridge, and made sure everything was in line.
James came downstairs, "Wow, Ava, it looks amazing in here. You did everything".
I nodded, "Yep. I wanted everything to be perfect for Ben. He's been off since Ty and him fought".
James nodded, "You're a good kid Av's. Need anything from me?".
I shook my head.
"Cool, all the gifts out too? My god you're Wonder Woman" James smiled.
I smiled too, "You just make coffee and help me with breakfast. I'm thinking we make Ben's favourite, waffles and eggs?".
"Nice thinking Av's. We can make some fresh orange juice too," James grabbed a bag of oranges, "Just got these yesterday".
"Thanks for helping".
"No problem" James patted my shoulder.
Jess came downstairs, "Oh my god, it looks great down here you two".
"No credit," James looked over at Jess, "Ava woke up around an hour ago and did it all by herself. Just helping her with breakfast".
Jess looked amazed, "Good job Ava, such a good helped. This is gonna cheer Ben right up".
I smiled.
"You look like you're about to cry" Jess came over.
I felt a tear fall down my face, "I miss the old Ben".
"What do you mean?" Jess kneeled down to me.
"Ben is so sad lately. He's stealing things, he's not himself".
Jess sighed, "I know. Today is gonna help, okay? It's just because Ty and him had a big fight".
I nodded.
"Help James with breakfast and we can go wake him up".
I started helping James with breakfast.
Juli came downstairs, "This for Ben's birthday?".
I smiled, "None other".
"Smells good in here Ava" Juli sat at the kitchen table.
"Thanks Juli".
Ty came downstairs and went for the door.
"Where you going?" Jess asked as she took a sip of her coffee.
Ty sighed, "Damien's house".
"Can't even stay for your brothers birthday?"
"I'd rather die" Ty left.
I looked at Jess.
Jess took a second, "It's gonna take some time Ava".
I nodded.
"Hey, everything is almost done though. Or ready to be eaten," James looked at me, "Wanna go wake Ben up?".
"Okay" I rushed upstairs.
I knocked on the bedroom door. Nothing. I knocked again, but nothing.
"Ben?" I opened the door.
