Jess
It's been two weeks since Ben's birthday. He's been pretty quiet since. He's even been pretty quiet from Alice. He's been going to work, he's been in his room.
His birthday really scarred him.
I sat at the coffee table with my coffee, Ava and Juli were eating.
"You okay Jess?" Ava asked.
I nodded, "Just thinking about plans for today".
It was quiet for a bit.
"You seem upset".
I sighed, "I'm fine Av's".
"You don't really seen fine" Juli added.
"I really just need to be left alone for a moment guys, I'm sorry".
Ava and Juli nodded and kept eating.
James came downstairs, "Kiddos ready for school?".
"Yep" Ava got up.
The two rushed over to the front door, then left with James to school.
I started crying.
That kid was falling apart, and I had no clue what to do. First it was him being out all the time, acting up. Now it's him isolating himself. I'm scared for him. I don't want him to end up like mom.
Ty came downstairs, "You alright?".
I nodded, "I'm just stressed out".
Ty came and sat in front of me, "Wanna talk about it?".
"You just go see Damien, okay?".
Ty sighed, "I can still sit and talk for a minute".
I took a second, "I'm just worried about Ben. I know you guys are going through it. With what happened at his birthday, I'm not sure how he's doing anymore".
"Every time he sees me he wants to kill me. He saw me in there grabbing more clothes, and he tried to grab me. I wish I could help him".
I looked up at Ty, "I really hope he gets out of his funk soon".
Ty nodded, "I do too. You can text me if you need me, okay?".
I smiled, "Thanks Ty".
Ty got up, "I'm gonna go now. You'll be okay?".
I nodded.
"Okay, I'll see you soon".
Ty left.
I wiped my tears off my face and cleaned up. I put some music on and jammed out for a bit. Music always made me feel better.
"Hey".
I screamed and dropped a plate.
Ben smiled, "Sorry. I'll grab the broom".
I looked at Ben walking to grab the broom. I've brought it over, sweeper up the broken plate, and threw it in a separate garage bag.
Ben came back inside and stared at me. I was staring at him, in shock.
"What?" He asked.
"You just haven't been this alive since your birthday".
Ben shrugged, "Feeling fantastic today. Must've just been a two week hangover, maybe from my first time doing coke".
I glared, "Don't remind me".
"Sorry".
I felt so confused.
