Jess

I woke up bright and early and got the kids ready for school. Mom had gotten up with me to help.

The kids and Ty had put up the Christmas tree last night. Ben was at Lylah's house again, he practically lives there. Nobody is holding it against him. He is 20.

Ava came downstairs in a cute Christmas headband, "Morning".

"Morning Av's," I handed her a plate, "Tree shaped eggs. Ain't that neat?".

She smirked and went to eat.

"Juli awake?" I asked.

"Mom is taking care of it".

I nodded.

Mom came downstairs with Juli.

"Gonna wear a cute headband like your sister?" I joked.

Juli groaned.

I handed him a plate, "Go eat buddy".

Juli went to the table.

"Ty coming downstairs to eat?" Mom asked.

I shrugged, "I can go check".

"Sure".

I went upstairs and knocked on the door, "Ty?".

There was no answer.

"Ty? You okay dude?".

Nothing.

I opened the door. Ty was sitting on the window ledge, smoking a cigarette.

"You alright?" I walked in.

"It's been almost two months".

I nodded, "Yeah, and we're all so proud of you Ty".

He didn't respond.

"Feeling weird?".

"Empty".

I took a deep breath, "You want me to leave you alone?".

Ty held a smoke out behind him.

I took it and came to sit beside him. He hadn't experienced this in awhile, his empty feeling, at least as far as I know. Even when he did, he was always in a get the fuck away from me type of empty. This was definitely new.

"Do you wanna talk about something?" I asked.

Ty shrugged, "Sure".

"How's things with you and Aaron going?".

"Good. Still helping him and his dad make money, I'm making money too. I have his dads birthday party and the club tonight".

I felt concerned, "You're not robbing are you?".

Ty smirked, "You wanted to know. Hey, I'm a good thief".

"Good genes for that I guess" I laughed a little.

"His brother Ethan is back in Juvie, that kid is gonna end up in prison for the rest of his life. It wasn't even from stealing, assault charges"

I took a second, "Ever worried about Aaron going to jail?".

He shrugged, "I guess so. I'm just hoping he doesn't".

"He wouldn't stop for you?".

"Well he can't stop because of his dad. Maybe if his dad went to prison for life no parole, then he probably would."

I smirked, "Find a way to get his dad in jail forever then".

Ty laughed a little, "Wouldn't that be great?".
