Once I made sure Logan's bandage was put on correctly I finished cleaning up the dried blood on him and then looked at him. After I got Logan inside the house I had brought him to his bedroom and everyone else is in the living room.
"What happened? Patton never hurts anyone like that," I keep my voice soft so Logan doesn't think I'm mad. Patton is my best friend so he might think I'm picking sides.
Logan sighs, "I went too far during practice. I wanted to see what he was capable of without using his magic and now I know he can be strong when needed."
"Logan what did you say," I ask as I put the trash off to the side to be thrown away later.
He looks down, "Something I'm not proud of....I mentioned that if Roman was ever in a situation where he might die and Patton would have to do something. I guess that made him mad. Well more than I thought it would."
"How could you say something like that? Roman is your friend, how can you imagine your best friend like that?"
"It is no different then when I think of what Remus did to you," he stated coldly.
I go quiet and look down, he can't be serious. But deep down I know he is. "But he hasn't been in that situation yet."
"Falsehood. We all were in that situation when we were caught and you were killed. It could have been any of us!"
"But it was me!" I stand up, getting off of the bed, "I'm glad it was me."
"Don't say that," Logan stands up.
"But I am. If it was anyone else I would feel awful about it. If it was Patton then there would be no way we could have ever gotten him back."
Logan looks away, "I know but I want to protect you."
"And I need to protect you," I whisper.
We both go quiet for a while until there is a knock at the door. It opens and Remy looks at us, "Patton wants to see you Logan. He feels really bad for breaking your nose."
Logan nods and walks past me, leaving the room. I hear Patton wailing and apologizing profusely at Logan.
Remy walks in the room and closes the door behind him, "What a mess. I'm not gonna lie though babes, I never thought Patton would be one to be so... Violent."
I grimace hearing that, "He usually isn't."
"I know. Trust me we all know."
I sigh and sit down on the bed and he joins me. He takes off his sunglasses, "Do you know why I wear these?"
I shrug, "To look cool?"
"Oh babes, I don't need these to look cool." He smiles, "But no. I wear them because when I'm scared no one sees it. When I am mad or worried no one can tell. My feelings show up in my eyes. So when Patton acted out, I started to think. Maybe we shouldn't hold back anymore."
I raise an eyebrow, "Who ever said we were holding back?"
"I can see it," Remy states. "I can see it in everyone. We hold back because we know that if we kill Janus and Remus, then we may never go back to how we were. But no matter what, we will never go back to how we were no matter what we do."
"What do you mean?"
"If we kill them we will be praised but some people... When they kill someone they get a high. They enjoy it. That's what happened to Janus and Remus. But other people turn out different. For you, you can kill people over and over and be fine. You changed. But let's say Patton killed someone, he might not ever get over it."
My mind flashes to when he killed that human ages ago. He never got over it until recently. At least I think. "So what are you saying?"
Remy puts his sunglasses back on, "We have to tell them that we cannot assign jobs in this mission. Yes, there will be two different groups and everyone has their perks. But if we tell someone they are in charge of one thing, what happens when their group has fallen? They will use their role as a way to do anything but kill the enemy. We need to make it clear that we have to kill them. No matter who it is doing the job."
