I watch as Patton sobs hugging Logan who is repeatedly telling him that it's okay. Emile and Thomas look relieved that they can get past this incident. Patton told us what Logan said and while it makes me upset, I understand why he did it after he explained himself. Patton finally pulls away and looks at the group, minus Remy and Virgil who are currently in Logan's room.
"Now that everything is fine, we should all start to relax and make sure we are hydrated," I state as I walk to the kitchen and grab the pack of water bottles.
I carry it over to the living room and place it onto the table. Everyone grabs themself a water bottle, Patton grabbing two.
I sit down on one of the couches and Patton sits down next to me, "Maybe we should go back down to the basement and look around for the equipment." He said to me with a small smile.
I feel my chest grow tight and my hands get sweaty. No one can go down in the basement. "I already told you that the equipment isn't in the basement."
"I know but maybe you over looked it," Patton pointed out.
That could be a possiblity but I can't risk anyone finding the coffin. Logan and me have to keep it hidden.
Logan speaks up, "I can look later with Remy," he gives me a look and I nod.
"Yeah. Logan and Remy can look, I'll join though since the equipment is heavy and you guys might need help."
I can't believe I didn't think about telling Remy. He would probably help us keep quiet about it and we could figure out who is in it.
I hear footsteps coming downstairs and see Virgil and Remy coming down.
Virgil speaks up, "Remy and I have decided to talk about some stuff. We need to make something clear with everyone right now." His voice is serious.
Remy continues, "We will not assign jobs on what to do when we go after Remus and Janus. When facing them, if your group goes down and your the last standing. You will have to kill whoever your facing. Whether you like it or not they have to die."
The room grows tense and thick. Everyone processing that it might be them having to kill someone. I can tell Virgil has already accepted this. He probably did over the year of us being gone.
Emile looks worried, "What if we can't?"
Virgil looks at him, "Then we all die and whoever had the chance to kill them didn't. Then you basically killed us yourself."
The room only grew more thick and heavy. I wrap an arm around Patton who seems shaken up. I feel bad that I can't do more but they are right.
Its dinner time and no one feels like talking. It's been a quiet day and everyone has been keeping to themselves. I notice that Emile and Patton seem uncomfortable with the conversation earlier and they still haven't recovered from it.
I start to eat but can after a few bites, I set my fork down on the plate, "Remy, Logan and I want you to come to the basement and help us look for the equipment."
Remy looks at me then Logan, "Alright. Once we are done eating we can go look."
Thomas, he decided to stay with us tonight, finishes eating, "I would like to ask something."
Everyone turns their attention to him. Thomas seems to grow anxious, "Uh, well... What if we fail?"
"That's not an option," Virgil answers sounding pissed off.
Remy looks down, "Then some or all of us will die. I think we all know what will happen if they keep any of us alive."
Once again the tension and thickness returns. The rest of supper is quiet and dark.
"Alright let's head to the basement now," I say as I lead Logan and Remy downstairs, leaving everyone else upstairs to clean up.
Remy starts looking around and Logan puts a hand on his shoulder, "We need to show you something. It has to stay between the three of us and no one can know about it," Logan keeps his voice low.
Remy looks at us and nods, "Alright what is it?" He asked growing serious.
"Follow us," I lead him to the coffin, not saying anything else.
Remy looks at us after staring at the coffin for a few minutes, "What the hell is this?"
Logan answers, "As far as we know it's a coffin and we haven't been able to get anything else from it."
"Have you opened it?"
I look at him caught off guard, "What? No!" I keep my voice low but the concern is still easy to hear. "That's disrespectful and who knows how long this has been here."
Remy sighs and walks over to it, "Theres some writing engraved into the stone but it's almost impossible to read."
I sigh, "We already saw that. There is no way to know when this was put here and who is inside that."
Remy chuckles, "That's not true. You two are just cowards." He grabs the lid that is set on top of the coffin.
"That's all stone, it would take a lot of strength to get it off," Logan states watching the fairy.
"I'm not taking it off completely. I'm just going to slide it off a bit to get a good look at who it is. If there is anything that can help us," Remy says.
He starts sliding the stone a bit with some grunts, he then gags and stands up straight quickly, covering his mouth and nose, "That smells awful."
Logan moves back and I follow suit, "Do you see anything," I ask.
"Oh my starlight," he pushes the stone lid a little bit more, "Guys your gonna want to see this."
Me and Logan look at each other before walking over to the coffin and seeing a skeleton with a king's outfit on and a crown that is huge, its dirty but the gold is bright along with the red and green gems that are on it.
"Well... We found your father," Remy states. "And the old king."
