“Back already?” I smiled, walking toward the kitchen, surprisingly early.
Well, surprisingly early for me.
It was only 9:30 am.
But, when Jarvis announced Pepper was at the mansion.
We had returned from Amsterdam three days before, but given the fact she was still sick, I almost ordered her to stay home.
She smiled at me, in that morning, when I entered the kitchen. But oh, did she have a slight smirk on her expression?
Hmmm, I am still studying her non verbal communication.
Her body communication… yeah… body… communication.
“Are you feeling better?” I asked
I really tried to sound careless, but maybe I did not succeed.
“Yes, Mr. Stark…” she smiled, handing me my coffee “And, I see I have won the bet”
I raised my eyebrow “What bet?”
“You cannot tie your shoes without me”
My eyes widened “I did go to that meeting, yesterday after lunch!”
“Yes you did…” she stared at me with those ocean eyes of her “And you have missed the other four… and you did not replied to any of my…”
“Alright, alright… I… forgot” I interrupted her “Hey, I am here now, and it is too soon for me. What’s in the schedule?”
She smirked “So…”
“There was no bet”
“I still won”
“No you did not.”
“Yes I did”
“Can I fire you for disagreeing with me?”
“Would you go back for me and make another bet?”
DAMN HER!
I smirked at her, boy, she’s good.
More than that.
So much more, yeah, yeah, yeah…
“What’s in the schedule for today?”
She smiled “Two for me”
I raised an eyebrow, but was not able to say another word “There are good news about the company’s actions, but Mr. Stane wants to meet with you”
“Alright, after lunch?”
“Whenever you want” She smiled at me
“After lunch” I smiled at her “I’ll go downstairs now.”
“But, you have not eaten breakfast yet!”
“Send it down” I shouted, running downstairs.
It was a light day, actually.
I do feel a lot more comfortable now. I do not know for sure what I mean… if it is because I am not so lonely in that huge mansion, now that Pepper is around way longer. Well, there’s always Happy too, but Pepper is different.
And Rhodey has not been around for a long time as well. He’s probably still in one of his missions.
I mean, I would never admit that, obviously. Even to myself, sometimes.
