Despite the really awkward mood and environment on the school, the next weeks passed by quickly.
I would spend most of my time in my room, working on Jarvis or any other of my “hobbies”, as Maya had said it.
I kept missing classes and only went when strictly necessary, or in exam days. Of course, I kept ignoring my parents’ calls, specially my father’s.
I knew, obviously, he had been notified about my lack of assiduity and surely wanted to give me one of his enjoyable punishments.
I have grown not to fear his outbursts anymore. Maybe because I was started to get used to be away from him, I felt like he did not have much control over me anymore.
Of course, I was wrong.
Still, maybe that was the time he realized I was not the silent, crying and coward kid he knew.
I was not.
I was probably still too naive, though.
“Tony!”
God.
Her sweet female voice was calling me. I tried my best to ignore, but obviously, I failed
“Tony!” she reached me, touching my shoulders, her expression showed nothing more than sadness and worry “How have you been?” she asked
I looked at her.
Maybe she was one of the reasons I had been missing classes more often, yes. I did not care though.
“I haven’t seen you around” she smiled, kissing my cheek “I miss you”
I gulped. She really did weird things to me and my body.
“Just… finished an exam”
“How was it?” she asked “Oh, forget it. Just another A, right?”
I half smiled, looking down.
I guess I miss her too.
Her company.
That kiss may have occupied many of my dreams. But my dreams were also, and mostly, occupied by a raging Rhodes. I still felt horrible for allowing that kiss to happen, when I knew he liked Maya.
“Look, I… wanted to talk to you, Tony…” she whispered.
My eyes caught Rhodes, walking down the hall and noticing the both of us talking.
“Maya... I really need to go.” I spoke, looking at Rhodes, who shocked his head and turned away, continuing his path.
“No, Tony!” she grabbed my hand “It’s about that project of yours, remember? The one you promised me we would present to my class?”
I looked at her “Oh…”
“Will you still do it? You promised me, Tony”
I looked at her. Boy, she’s good.
“Right, I promised you”
“We should… meet sometime and, take care of that? Maybe when classes start again?”
I frowned.
When classes start? What the hell does she mean?
“The professor did say I had time for that…”
I glanced at her, still confused. But when I noticed Rhodes showing up at the hall again, I ignored it.
“Then, if we have time, we can always do that… later” I stepped back
