“Dude, you have to get us this stuff!” Rhodey excitedly spoke, walking upstairs with me

“Slow your d*ck down, coronel” I frowned “Anything at its time. Just wanted you to know,” I smiled “you have nothing to fear, I gotcha y’all”

“C’mon, Tony! I told you they are growing stronger and with more tech! Stuff similar to ours, to yours!”

“I’ll start working on some things, Rhodey. But hey, it’s ok. We all know it’s impossible to overcome me, right?”

Rhodey rolled his eyes “You don’t believe what I am telling you”

“C’mon man, have I ever doubt you? I do believe you. But I also believe myself” I smugly smiled, sitting on my couch

“Whatever, dude” Rhodey spoke, in disappointment

“Relax, Rhodey, have something to drink”

“I’m fine, thanks” he spoke “I need to pee”

“Go ahead, you know the way”

I watched Pepper approaching as he left “What’s going on?”

“I showed him what I have in store” I whispered, accepting my coffee “This is really coffee, now, right?”

She smiled “Yes, it is, Tony”

“Thanks, Pep” I accepted it “Anyway, I thought I was going to calm him down, apparently I did not”

“You are not going to start working like a maniac and build all those dangerous things at once, will you?”

I stared at her, smiling. 

“Why would you care if I did?”

She rolled her eyes “Well, you pay me well. I want to keep my boss for a long time”

I smirked “I’ve always known you liked me”

“Shut it, you” she slapped my shoulder “Are you feeling any better?”

“I am fine, just a sick tummy, I guess”

She sat next to me, with her laptop “There are several things I want to talk to you”

“Oh no…” I groaned “You promised me there was no work today”

“No, I did not promise anything, Mr. Stark”

I rolled my eyes “Is Obie bothering you because of all the things Rhodey was telling?” I asked “Because of the military useless worries?”

“I think so, Mr. Stark. Though he did not tell me much”

I nodded “I guess I have to build a little toy for them to calm down for a while”

“Mr. Rhodes seems really worried, though”

“Pep, they have amazing machinery. I keep building seriously good things for them. They are just coming at me this way, telling me the others have equally good stuff, to make me worry and not let that happen. I am not that stupid, I know that is impossible”

“Tony” Pepper looked at me “Or not. Maybe there is someone out there who knows how to build good weapons too…”

“That’s not true” I stubbornly said “I know what I am saying”

Pepper looked at me, softly “Rhodey is your friend”

“I know, but he thinks I do not to more out of laziness… and he is probably right, sometimes.” I looked down “But,” I hesitated “well, my mother always told me to give time a little time… and go against whatever is the urge I feel to… obsessively follow my mind”
