for the next two days, you and kurai started going from place to place, trying your best to avoid demon slayers. though there were times where you ran across them and had to fight them. akaza would sometimes join in, helping you take out the stronger ones. though he always ends up saying how the fight wasn't satisfying because they were all too weak.

and within those two days, ubuyashiki got the message that you were with upper moon three. it didn't take long for him to inform the pillars about it too. so you really weren't surprised when you received a letter that night.

you and akaza were sitting next to each other, leaning against a large tree in the middle of a forest. kurai was in front, chewing away at his food. he tried offering some to akaza but the upper moon declined, claiming that he does not eat females.

a crow came flying towards you, landing in front. "message for [l/n] [y/n]!" it exclaimed. you raised a brow and took the letter off the crow's leg. and the moment you did, the crow flew away, probably afraid by akaza's presence.

"who is it from?" kurai asked. "hold on," you unrolled the letter and started reading.

[y/n], i really hope what i heard isn't true but... are you working with upper moon three? i'm really sorry but i can't understand why you would associate yourself with a demon who killed rengoku-san. i'm really confused right now about what your intentions are. you're really worrying me [y/n]. can you-

you didn't get to finish reading the letter when it was snatched out of your grasp. you turn to the side to see it in akaza's hand. "hey, i'm not done reading it ye-"

"doesn't matter, it's not important." you reached a hand out, wanting to take it back when he tore it. "akaza?!" you exclaimed, "what was that for?!"

"you know, we're being hunted down by demon slayers right now, you don't even look like you're trying to hide yourself."

"... that's not true..."

"look, i know you miss them and all but right now they're finding you with the intention to hurt you. you can't see them as your friends or whatever, unless you have a death wish then go ahead," akaza let go of the torn up letter, it's pieces falling onto the dirt.

you let out a huff and gave in. "aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah..." kurai broke the silence with a long sigh, stretching his arms above his head. "man, i'm so tired."

"hey i should be the one saying that," you countered, raising your brow at him. "demons get tired too you know," kurai shot back. "not really," akaza stated. "man come on, i'm just-" kurai's eyes widened as he cut himself off, jumping to his feet, he pushed himself away from where he was sitting and appeared next to you and akaza. "you what?" you turn to look at him, but your mouth formed into an 'oh' shape when you noticed both his hands had been sliced off.

"... so it's true, huh." you hear a voice mumbling from where kurai was seated not too long ago. "ah! giyuu-san what are you doing?" you stepped forward, though akaza immediately pulled you back beside him. "what do you think i'm doing [y/n]," he stated with an uninterested look on his face. "i don't even know what's going on with you anymore," he muttered out, "not that i care but."

not finishing his sentence, the water pillar sped forward, appearing right in front of kurai. his blade went forward, aiming for the demon's neck, but kurai managed to move his head back, only letting the tip graze his skin.

"oh shit shit shit, you're fast..!" the cut on his neck healed in a second. giyuu only narrowed his eyes before using a different form to attack. you watch giyuu go after kurai as the demon tried to fight back. though as expected of a pillar, giyuu made sure he didn't give kurai time to think of something.

"wait what are you doing?" you grabbed onto akaza's wrist when he left your side. "i'm gonna go kill that demon slayer."

"please don't! he's a pillar and-"

"he's not the first pillar i'm killing [y/n]."

"i don't care just don't do anything."

"what are you- oi get back here!" disregarding what akaza just said, you ran towards giyuu, swiftly grabbing his wrist before pulling him away from kurai. he let out an annoyed grunt as you dragged him away from the two demons, running somewhere into the forest.

"giyuu-san please let it go! i swear i'm not betraying you guys or anything!" you pleaded, tightening your hold on his wrist. "you killed the other demon slayers that were sent to get you."

"i know but that was only because they were literally trying to kill me," you explained, "please just leave us alone, i'm not even doing anything that's effecting you right now..!"

"but-"

"i'll come back! i promise, just give me some time okay?"

"that's unacceptable-"

"yes it is, please tell ubuyashiki to stop hunting me down."

thw water pillar narrowed his eyes at you, probably judging you. after a few seconds, he let out an irritated sigh, furrowing his brows. "fine," he breathed out, "but please get your shit together [y/n]. i don't want to be dragged into these kinds of things, it's really tiring..."

"sorry..."

"... i'll see what i can do." giyuu slipped his wrist out of your grasp before turning away and speeding off into the opposite direction.

"[y/n]?!" kurai's voice called out to you. you quickly ran back to where you left them, "sorry! i'm back! i'm fine!"

"stop running away like that you idiot," akaza flicked your forehead, causing you to winced at the contact. "ouch..." you placed a hand over your forehead, rubbing it.

"come on let's get out of here," kurai suggested. "yeah. it's getting dangerous with all these pillars showing up," akaza agreed, grabbing onto your hand and pulling you along with him.

"but we don't have anywhere to go..." you pointed out.

"actually we do... but i still don't think it's a good idea..." kurai mumbled, following after you. "what's the idea?" you asked. "i don't know... but douma did say we could come visit him any time..." kurai shrugged, "and now seems like a reaaally good time if you ask me."
