"Hey, Charlotte!" Hero yells again. I turn around and I see him running towards me from the hotel where Kat is working.

Not a dream. This is really happening.

"What are you doing here?" I whisper. I seem to have lost my voice.

"Your friend Katarina told me I would probably find you here."

"I mean, what are you doing on the island?"

"I need to talk to you," he says with a shaky voice. I know my distant tone is making him uncertain.

"How did you find me?"

"Well, you kind of described the hotel and the area around it when we talked so it wasn't very hard to find the place online. I recognized Katarina immediately from what you told me and she was the only one that looked like she could strangle me so..."

"I don't want you here, go away."

I turn around and start walking.

"Come on, Charlotte," Hero begs and he grabs my arm to stop me and turn me around again. "You have to give me a chance."

"I have to give you a chance?!" I shriek. "Like you have given me a chance?!"

Hero sighs.

"I know I messed up but just hear me out."

"I just can't, Hero. I'm emotionally exhausted." I sigh.

"Just one more chance."

"And how many chances would that make, Hero?"

"Come on. Please." His eyes never let go of mine.

"I don't know how to do that."

"Just trust me," Hero says.

Trust, that's the thing isn't it. And it's also the magic word that makes me snap.

"You have literally just proven to me that you can't be trusted!" I yell. "No more secrets, remember?" I add with a sarcastic tone.

"Jesus, Charlotte, not again!"

And that's it. I'm done with this.

"Let go of me!" I try to break free from his grip but he takes both my arms now.

"No! Listen to me!"

"Let go of her," a warning voice comes from behind me. Fabio!

Hero's eyes widen and I can see the shock and the anger. Fabio walks up to us and takes his place next to me but Hero doesn't let go. In fact, he's totally ignoring Fabio.

"Is he the reason why you won't talk to me?" His voice is dark and low.

"Oh please," I say. "I am nothing like you! Don't insult me!"

"Okay, sorry, that wasn't fair but at least hear me out." Hero seems to realize that him holding me so tightly is making it worse so he let's go of my arms. I take a step back.

"I am done talking, you must know that. I made it perfectly clear when we decided to try again that it would be the last time."

Hero takes a moment to think about that.

"Okay, no more talking then," he says. "But since I'm here I want to explore the island and I could really use a guide!"

I look up, shocked and I start shaking my head.

"I'll pay you to show me around the island," Hero says with a cheery voice. "And it's your job so you have to!"

"I don't think-" I start saying but Hero cuts me off.

"Seriously, Charlotte, it's the least you can do if you won't hear me out."

I think about that for a second. He did fly all the way here and I always love showing people the island. And he is right, it is my job and I could use the money. What could go wrong? It would be good to be friends again especially since the twins are arriving soon.

"Okay," I sigh. "I will show you around. We start tomorrow."

By that point Katarina has joined us.

"Tomorrow? And what is the poor boy supposed to do today then?"

I glare at her.

"I have an idea," she says. "Why don't you join us for lunch, Hero?"

Hero gives her a broad smile and the blood rushes to her cheeks. I roll my eyes and Fabio does the same.
