Here goes nothing...

I expected the worst thing to happen and prepared myself for it. However, contrary to my wild imagination, the wide space doesn't even look like a bedroom. In fact, it was designed to accommodate two people to a covered candlelight dinner, with a jazz music playing in the background.

"After you." He smiled and followed my totally confused ass inside.

"I... don't understand..." That phrase was meant only for myself but he somehow heard it while pulling a cushioned chair for me.

"I told you, I'm treating you to a nice dinner."

"But you're not even sure if I'm going to say yes." I frowned at the confidence painted all over his face.

"True." His reaction turned serious all of a sudden, "Are you worried about food allergies or something else?"

"Why do you go through this lengths just to please me?" I figured I have to be direct or we'll go in circles about his real intentions.

"Because I'm attracted to you." He replied as smooth as butter.

Not only his blunt confession got me flustered, his intense stare doubled my discomfort

Not only his blunt confession got me flustered, his intense stare doubled my discomfort. I'm not sure yet if I'm affected because I like him as well or it's the opposite.

"No pressure." He added and offered the wine he just opened for us, then proposed a toast. "Forget what I've said. Let's enjoy the food while it's warm."

I took a small sip after swirling it a bit so that the aroma will rise and the tension between us deflates.

"Mr. Genya, if you don't mind me asking, may I know how long you have been living in this place?"

"Just recently."

I thought I could squeeze some information about him but it appears that he's a tougher nut to crack.

"How about your family?" The question actually meant two ways and I'm hoping he'll answer truthfully.

"I have lost both of my parents a long time ago." He smiled bitterly and sighed deeply. "And the only woman I loved—" I held my breath as I waited for him to continue, "... it was an unrequited love."

Perhaps it was bad to rejoice upon hearing that but somehow, deep inside I was happy he wasn't taken yet.

"Do you still love the other person?" I know this is personal but there's no other way to hear his thoughts because this will be the focal point of our relationship may it be only as friends or more.

"Truth be told... yes." I'm totally surprised at his honesty but he diffused the heavy atmosphere surrounding us the moment he chuckled softly. "I guess the quote saying First Love Never Dies was real. Especially when it's been years since she passed away."

"I'm so sorry to hear that."

"No, don't be."

I mentally sighed in relief and gave him a slice of marbled meat stuck on my fork to cheer him up. He was taken aback at first, however, Genya carefully pulled it off with his perfect set of teeth and it felt like I saw it traveled down his throat just by watching his Adam's apple move up and down.

"Thank you. The meat tastes better with the additional sweetness." My ears heated up at his amused gaze. To mask my embarrassment, I tried to finish my meal without talking much and less than an hour later, we both we're strolling down along the riverside to burn down some unwanted calories while spending time with each other in the simplest way.

Talking about the interests we share and to my surprise, we have almost the same tastes on everything. As if he knows a lot about my life like an open book.

It's giving me creepy vibes and fascination of the same amount which led me to forget the time until I received a call from my employer to let me know that she won't be going home tonight because she is too exhausted to drive.

"It's alright. Goodnight and have a good rest." I cut the call and faced Genya to excuse myself because it's getting late.

"Should I be jealous?" He questioned me in a light tone.

I was about to tell him there's nothing to be worried about when a hooded guy suddenly interrupted us and forcefully dragged me down the flights of cemented staircase.

"Back off!" He growled at Genya before shoving my body into a black van and went straight into the driver's seat. I attempted to open the doors but they seemed to be locked automatically.

Genya dashed to help but the stranger turned the wheel and rammed the bumper against his body.

"Nooo!!!"
