"That's a hell of a pick up line." I muttered, jaws locked in awe. "I can't believe it..."

"It's true." He smiled softly and for once, I felt safe. Although I'm still not sure if I can trust him. So I kept asking questions after questions until I'm satisfied.

"How did you know I'm your... I mean... the reincarnation of her?"

"One of the Elders had a vision and predicted you will be the key to Alucard's revival. He is the only son of the first vampire named Dracula and they fear that Alucard will use you as a sacrifice to bring his father back to life." He patiently explained, while turning the steering wheel around a sharp curve, right after we passed through the tunnel.

"But why me? Is there a specific reason? I thought you said I'm important to him?" My heart sank upon hearing Alucard's real intention. I couldn't explain why but it hurt a bit.

"You are a witch who can harness the energy of spirits to command the power of the elements. Truth be told we all fought against his father centuries ago and yet his traits as of today were the opposite of him around that time." He sighed deeply. "He's probably being manipulated by something dark and it could be dangerous for you to stay around."

"I see... but if you say I'm the reincarnation and you were my husband then, how come you're alive?"

"I have been resurrected by the Elders after they heard the news about Alucard's return."

"Wow... is it really that easy to bring dęad people when they feel like it?"

"No, there are rituals needed to be done. The Elders are an organization that keeps the humans protected from these dark beasts since time immemorial. They're called Vampire Hunters lead by their leader named Bishop. However, being the one to defeat the Dracula with yours and Alucard's help, they chose me to do the job once again."

I fell silent after all the revelations I can't seem to absorb. My mind is refusing to believe everything is real while pinching my thigh to wake up if this is only a dream. I remained staring blankly over the cemented road at the mountain side until I've started to doze off.

"Shįt!" Trevor's panicked deep voice pulled me from the verge of falling into the dreamland and my head nearly bumped over the hard-plastic, black dashboard when the van skidded along the sharp curve. It felt like I cracked a bone or twisted a nerve at the sudden swift motion and the pain is kįlling me.

"Ow... w-what happened?" I grab ahold of the roof handle bar to keep myself in place when Trevor's driving become as treacherous as it can be, whilst massaging the right side of my neck, hoping the aching muscle gets better as soon as possible.

"Fuçk he ain't slowing down!" He stepped over the accelerator as hard as he can, and ordered me to open the glove compartment. "Get the pistol and shoot!"

"W-wait, what's the poor animal got anything to do with us?"

"Because that's Alucard's beast form and he's gaining at us!"

I am perfectly aware that I have no time to waste, so even though it breaks my heart to hurt a poor dog, I had to do what I had to do and pulled the trigger. The wolf managed to dodge, and leaped high till it landed over the van's roof in a loud thud.

"Dammit, give that to me!" Trevor snatched the weapon on one hand and kept his left on the steering wheel. He was able to shoot but he couldn't reload as fast so I volunteered to do it for him.

Six bullets made holes over the thin roof and the wolf whimpered while it's body rolled over the steep cliff.

"Is he... dęad?" I stuttered at questioning him.

Trevor heaved a deep sigh of relief and nodded. "I think so. I can still hear series of branches getting torn apart."

"That was scary." I swallowed to moisten my drying throat. "Thank goodness you're a great driver."

"I'd do anything to keep you safe." He held my knuckles that is laid atop of my left thigh and looked at me briefly with those loving light blue eyes.

"Thank you..." I slowly pulled my hand away and watched the slow raindrops began marking the windshield. Trevor continued to drive but a tad slower, to prevent the tires from sliding at the long, winding road.

"(Y/N), I know it's a lot to take in but I swear I'll—ugh!" His speech was cut in the middle by something that hit us hard from behind, dragging the van towards the cliff.
