I smoothed my button up shirt. You could see a small bump. I was a rather thin person so I was showing earlier than most. But it wasn't big enough to not cover. Which is what I planned to do with a jacket.

Snake had taken me to the doctor shortly after I had taken the at home tests. I was now 8 weeks pregnant. She said everything seemed to be progressing properly. A hand took mine and I looked at Snake.

"You got this," he said. I smiled at him.

A hand clasped on my shoulder and gave it a squeeze. I looked at Cry and gave him a smile as well. We were going into court for the first day of hearing for the restraining order. I was going to have to see him and talk about the abuse.

Phoenix stood outside the court room. When he saw us he rushed over to us.

"Please tell me it's a rumor," he said.

I furrowed my brows, "What is?"

"That's you're PREGNANT!" he said in a harsh whisper.

I chewed on my lip and looked at Snake. Snake looked around to see if anyone was paying any mind to us before nodding.

Phoenix groaned, "Great. Is it his? Cause if it is, it's going to make it very hard to grant a restraining order. Because that would also keep him from the kid."

"But isn't that a GOOD thing," Cry asked.

Phoenix shook his head, "they may not want to grant it till they know that it's his kid or not. Then custody will come into play."

Snake narrowed his eyes, "well then I guess for right now we'll have to put enough DOUBT in their minds that it's his."

"Are you asking me to LIE?" Phoenix countered.

"Oh come on," Cry scoffed, "You're a lawyer. Can't be that hard."

"I take offense to that," the lawyer said before sighing, "alright. I'll do what I can."

I nodded.

Phoenix opened the door to the courtroom, "after you."

I was seated beside Mr. Wright at the Plaintiff table. Snake and Cry were right behind me. I looked to my right and saw my nightmare in the flesh. He was talking to his lawyer. He looked up and caught my eye, giving me a smile and a wink.

"Don't look at him," Phoenix whispered to me. I looked away.

The door to the chamber opened and we stood as the judge entered.

"Please Miss Adams, tell the court what happened the night you left Mr. Devin," Phoenix asked, standing before me as I sat in the witness stand.

I gave him a small smile, grateful he used my maiden name. But my smile was quickly washed away as I recalled that night.

"I um, had just finished dinner. We hadn't had sex in a long time. I would say almost a year," I began. I looked over at Snake. He nodded as if to tell me it was going to be okay.

I took a deep breath, "Mr. Devin had come home in a bad mood. He went to the bedroom for about an hour while I finished cooking. After an hour or so he came back out. He reeked of pot and his eyes were red."

"Objection!" Stephen's attorney said, standing up, "my client has no history of drug use and saying that he was using marijuana is slander."

The judge just waved his hand and dismissed him before telling me I could continue.

I swallowed hard, glancing at Snake and Cry. Cry gave me an encouraging smile while Snake sat there, arms crossed and staring at me, listening intently.
