Chapter Fourteen:
I groaned and looked around the apartment. Snake and I had decided to move into Cry's house. My family had decided that it was best that I start my maternity leave. It was still really early, I had about three months till the due date. But my emotional and mental health was so fragile that it was affecting my work.
I was six months pregnant. The only thing that changed was that I now I could know the gender of the baby. However Snake and I wanted to keep it a secret.
So since I had no more work for a while, I was packing stuff up in the apartment. I was collecting and wrapping our plates in newspaper when I heard a knock at the door. I looked at the clock on the wall.
"It's about lunch time," I said to myself, "maybe Scott is here early."
I headed to the door and opened it without thinking. When I saw who the person was on the other side, my stomach dropped.
"Stephen," I gasped.
He smiled at me, "hello honey. I'm home."
Snake's POV:
I tilted my head from side to side, stretching my neck. This meeting was lasting forever. I was supposed to leave about 30 minutes ago. But my boss kept going. I sighed.
"Alright," my boss said, closing his folder, "lets make sure we stay ontop of our deadlines everyone."
People started to stand up and I took that as my cue to leave. I quickly grabbed my briefcase and jacket from my desk and darted to the elevator.
"Sophi," I called as I stepped into the apartment. There was no answer.
I went into the kitchen and she wasn't there. There were plates on the floor. A couple were broken. I shrugged it off, she must have dropped a couple.
"Sophi?" I called again.
I heard shuffling in the bedroom. I walked back there and pushed the half open door open all the way.
There was no one in the bedroom. But I saw the light under the bathroom door. I tried to open it but it was locked.
"Go away!" I heard Sophi yell from the other side, "I have a gun. I swear, I'll kill you!"
"Sophi? Sophi, open the door. It's me," I said.
I heard her moving around quickly and the door was thrown open. Sophi stood there, her face tear stained. She threw her arms around me, sobbing.
"I'm so happy you're here," she choked out.
I rubbed her back and shushed her, trying to calm her. It wasn't good for her to be stressed out.
"Snake," she said, looking up at me, "stephen was here."
My teeth gritted together. I took her hand and led her to the bed and sat her down.
"Did he do anything to you? are you and the baby okay?" I asked her quickly.
She nodded, "he tried to force his way in and I ran to the bedroom and locked myself in."
"Did you call the cops?" I asked.
Sophi shook her head.
"Good."
I got up and went into the living room to get my cellphone. I dialed Cry's number and told him briefly what happened. I asked him to come over and stay with Sophi, I had some things to take care of. He knew what I meant.
I went back to the bedroom and told Sophi that I had to go out for a couple hours. She cried and held into my shirt begging me not to leave.
"I'll be back. And Cry will be here soon to stay with you."
As soon as I said that I heard the doorbell ring. I gently pried Sophi's hands off of me. I got up to answer the door.
"Hey, thanks for coming over," I said, taking a step back and letting Cry into the apartment.
He nodded, taking his coat off, "where's Sophi?"
"In the bedroom."
"Are her and the baby okay? did he do anything?"
I shook my head, "I'll be back in a couple hours. Don't let ANYONE in that isn't me. There is a gun in my nightstand. If any one tries to get in, shoot them. And don't miss. If anyone gets in here, I'll kill you after I kill them."
I sat outside the apartment. Opening the glove compartment, I took out a hand gun. After checking the bullets, I got out of the car and slipped it into the back of my waistband. I climbed the stairs slowly, trying to figure out what I was going to do.
All I knew was that one person was leaving the apartment alive. I reached the door, pausing before I knocked. I Waited for a few minutes before the door opened. Stephen stood there, drunk and a smile on his face.
"Hello Snake," he said.
"May I come in?" I asked.
He stepped back and I entered. Stephen took a seat in the arm chair and picked up his beer, taking a swig.
"So what can I do for you?" he asked me.
"I heard you paid Sophi a visit."
He shrugged, "I wanted to see how my baby was."
I growled, "you're not allowed near her. And that baby isn't yours."
"Oh, like it's yours? you and I both know that isn't true," he said with a smirk.
"As far as I'm concerned, it is. That is my baby. My girlfriend. MY family. And by fucking with them, you've signed your death certificate."
I pulled the gun out, brandishing it.
"Now I suggest you get comfortable because only one of us is leaving here alive."
