timeskip - 6 days later

it was the last day of the week-long vacation and everything had been going according to plan. the students had been to a lengthy zip line, which stretched itself over an enclosed natural reserve which was rented out just for the pupils for the whole duration of the day. they interacted with the animals (taehyun kind of hated that activity because the brown bear reminded him of beomgyu) and at least everyone had two tries on the zip line while the teacher filmed it in slow motion for the classes to marvel at later.

the other five day were packed with many different types of things to do, including going to a relaxing salus per aquam (spa in latin) which means health through water. they also went to a noraebang (karaoke) and huening kai was genuinely impressed by taehyun's stunning vocals when the blonde slayed a cover of crush's 'beautiful life'. the trip had turned out to be an exciting one for everyone involved and it even touched the icy heart of taehyun himself.

it was the final day of the trip and the teachers had allowed the children to obtain an hour's free time before gathering them together to have the last activity which would last the duration of the warm midsummer night. taehyun was on his bed in the rented hotel, which he shared with huening kai, when one of the few people who had actually had one conversation with him, knocked on the door.

it was park sunghoon who was a junior in taehyun's class. he also had a boyfriend called jake sim who was a transfer student from australia but fell in love with sunghoon as soon as he laid his chestnut brown eyes on him. the younger returned his feelings and they lived happily ever after. cheesy love story, right? the blonde thought so too, although he was not gonna lie, he was jealous at how contented they were with their lives.

"aren't you going to come to the bonfire?" the youngest of the three asked. taehyun raised a questioning eyebrow to that sentence. he wasn't reminded of any bonfire and even if he was, he would dump it for a quiet day in while writing away lyrics to a non-existent song any day.

yes, the latter loved singing and had only let it show once, which was at the noraebang. he didn't believe in himself however and therefore didn't let his talent shine through like the blonde deserved. the latter would sit on rainy days and write whatever he felt like. that was funny to think about because all he felt was sadness and emptiness.

"you don't know?" jake interjected into the conversation. taehyun shook his head hesitantly. was he supposed to know?
"some of the seniors and juniors are ditching the activity to the bonfire and are going to skip registration before the teachers could notice," he explained.

taehyun nodded, thinking that they would continue. "we want you to come, silly!" sunghoon exclaimed, a goofy smile on his face. the eldest wondered if the youngest was drunk already, maybe on excitement. "and before you turn down the offer, huening's going as well."
"fuck." taehyun cursed under his breath. what the hell did they bribe huening kai with? plushies?

anywho, he would had to go at this point, he didn't want to come back to the hotel with the younger slouching over his shoulder. the blonde wanted to stay away from the reality of taking care of a drunk person, especially the aforementioned. the younger was already a bit cuckoo in real life and the older wouldn't like to deal with an intoxicated version. he, therefore, reluctantly agreed to the bonfire.

taehyun didn't know that he was going to regret that decision in the near future.
